Preschool Thanksgiving Day Party

I am in a mom's preschool co-op and my day to teach is next Tuesday. I have seven 3 year olds for 2 hours. I have to have lots of things planned, b/c they finish activities so quickly and have short attention spans! I was supposed be teaching the letter J, but a few days ago I was asked to do a Thanksgiving party instead. I would rather not do a party, but my only other option was to switch days so someone else could host the party, but I can't do it that day.

So, I have a basic lesson on being thankful, some craft and snack ideas, will read a child friendly book about the history of Thanksgiving, but I need a good activity, like a game. Any game I google turns out to be computer games, or older kid games, not what I need!

I'm on a limited budget too. Any ideas? I know we can do like duck duck goose, and say "turkey" instead of goose, but something a little more original would be awesome. Any other snack/activity/craft ideas are also welcome!

What can I do next?

Decorate soda bottles as turkeys and go turkeby bowling.

Do the hokey pokey with Turkey parts

put play food or cut outs of thanksgiving food on a tray and play a memory game where you have the kdis closet their eyes and you take one food item away. they have to guess it.

Sing, The turkey's on the table the turkey's on the table Heigho thanksgiving's here the turkey's on the table inserst other foods. the tune is heigh ho the derry-o if you didn't get that. :)

I used to put on music and let the kids dance or freeze dance to Turkey in the Straw ( square dance type music)

YOu could do hot potato with a Beanie Baby turkey.

You have my age kids = )
I so know what you mean about limited attention spans.

My kids love their circle time. Right now we are singing a lot of turkey themed songs here is a link to some cute ones http://www.preschooleducation.com/sthanksgiving.shtml

My kids also like simple action songs like head, shoulders, knees and toes.

We do a none running version of a duck duck goose game, you cut out a small whatever your theme is ( we have done a fish for a bear, a gingerbread man, you could use a turkey) one child sits on the cut out and another child walks around the outside of the circle and tries to guess who has it...

we play a game called hurry scurry

You hide cut outs of acorns around the room and put the kids in two teams and give them both a "base" all the base is, is a print out of a tree...then you say Squirrel, squirrel, bushy and gray.
Please find your acorn right away!
Winter is coming and it will snow.
Find your acorn – go, go, go!
It is all in fun, I reward both groups for their efforts.

This website has tons of suggestions for crafts/snacks/activities. It's called One Pretty Thing, and it's a DIY website. The link will take you to one page of kid's Thanksgiving Roundup. If you want to look at more roundups, click on the "Categories" and change the date. You can also change the category if you think it will give you more what you're looking for. Hope this helps!
