Preschool Chart

I have a 2.5y/o that I would like to start some fun preschool prep work with him. He loves learning about the weather. I would like to start teaching him the day of the week, and what month it is. Does anyone know a good chart that you can buy for a child to put up what day of the week it is, month, and what the weather is like outside. I know I could make something, but I have to be honest and say I am not that creative and don't know how much time I would have to make something that would hold up long term. Any ideas would be appreciated. If it is something easy to make I would be willing to give it a try or if someone knows of a chart that can be bought online that would be great too. TIA.

What can I do next?

We have some really cute charts at school. I will find out where they bought them. We sing the days of the week in the form of a song. Just the days of the week to a basic melody. It really helps the kids learn which order they go in! We ask if they know what today is and let one of the kid's that gets it right velcro the day up on the board. The same with the month and number. We have also been working on the days and months in Spanish. :)

Charts are a great way we infuse routine into our day, try out http://www.orientaltrading.com for tons of creative ideas, materials, charts and other stuff to learn, play and grow with your youth.

You can also find a great desk calender and hang in you child's room ( play area), upon waking every morning add this to your routine. Go to the hanging desk calender find the date, repeat what day it was yesterday, what day it is today and what day it will be tomorrow. A large calender with a theme that shows a time-line for daily events is also great for an older child as well.
The child chooses a sticker of her/his own to mark today's date with.

Hi S.,
I ordered this for my son:

He just turned 3, but we've been using it for about 6 months now. He loves it and asks every morning for his "calendar."
Good luck!

Try Lakeshore products. I'm a teacher and I get a lot of my classroom stuff from there.

Not sure where you live, but Lakeshore Learning Center on Central Park Avenue in Scarsdale has all sorts of charts like that. It's a store geared toward teachers and classroom supplies. I'm sure they have an on line store as well.

If you want to go really inexpensive and if there's a Dollar Tree nearby, they carry a nice assortment of teaching aids.

I am not sure where you live but there is an educational store on the post road in Orange ...in the same plaza where the NE Ballet school is. They have teacher supplies and all the charts and dry earse items they use in their "daily circle" doing the calendar weather etc....

Why preschool prep work! He is just a little boy. Let him enjoy these
years. You do not need charts to teach him weather. Talk about it every
day. He has plenty of time to learn the days of the week, the month.
He will be in school for a long time. Relax. Play with him. Have fun,
dance, sing, go to the playground. I am sure this is not what you wanted
to hear but I believe in having fun when they are babies. And he is a
baby.
