I have a 3.3 year old boy who will be going to preschool starting fall. I love the curriculum but a little apprehensive because he could only get into afternoon session. He is not napping much but seems restless in the afternoon and can use a nap. Should I still pursue this school.
I wanted to find out from any one of the amazing ladies in this forum, if you have any comment or suggestions regarding this preschool schedule.
Thanks so much for your help in advance.

S.

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies for all your quick responses. It really helped me to make up my mind-I will start phasing out his nap and let you know when he starts school. He loves to play with kids so I will give this a try. Thanks again for your help.

Both of my children went to preschool in the afternoon. My son used to take a 3 hour nap but we fazed it out prior to preschool. He was 3 1/2 when he started. Sometimes he would be drowsy driving home but he got used to the routine quickly. After school, it was dinner and an early bedtime.
We enjoyed it so much that we requested afternoons for my daughter! Good luck with your decision.

Hi S.

I'm not sure where you live but my son attends a 5 star pre-school in the Long Beach area. It's free and he goes from 8 to 4.

If he could only get into the afternoon session, I would sign him up for it but definitely talk to the director about wanting another time slot in the morning as soon as one becomes available. Continue to talk with the director every few weeks about it. My son was in the afternoon class and it seems like he did better there, because there were fewer students in the class, so he got to spend more 1:1 time with the teacher. It really benefitted him, so if this is your situation, you may want to rethink asking for the transfer to the morning class.

Hope this helps,
J.
