I gave birth to my son a little over 3 months ago and have just taken a home pregnancy test that came back positive...what are some of the risks of conceiving so early? A friend told me that there may be a higher possibility of a miscarriage....after three months is there any possibility that the test was a false positive? I'm not having morning sickness or any other symptoms but i am having a repeated dull ache on my right side... I have an appointment at my doctor in a week and a half....

What can I do next?

Every pregnancy is different. No morning sickness is a good thing! I would try to get in to the doc sooner. The dull ache worries me.

My younger two are 19 months apart. I really don't remember any problems I had with chasing a toddler and her older sister while I was pregnant with the third. I guess I have Mom Amnesia. :)

Congratulations and good luck.

K., the dull ache on the right concerns me..go see your MD, in case it's a tubal..Otherwise, the deed is done, do the best you can. Eat right, sleep as much as you can. Try not to develop habits in your new baby that will hurt you when you have two. I mean, put baby down for a nap when it's nap time, droopy eyes and being up for hours are clues, LOL..Try to help yourself before you really will need help. My oldest two were 20 months apart and i dont recall it being so bad, it was actually really great! Enjoy!

Hi my second and third child are only 14 months apart. It's hard but worth it. The dull pain could be gall stones, and you may need to get that removed. Ask your doctor about that. I had pain after my first child and thats what it was. Shortly after I had to have it removed. Ask your doctor just in case, bc it could get painful. Congrats on the new baby. Good Luck....

One of my friends got pregnant 10 weeks after she had her first. She did fine. She researched it and learned that it is harder on you than the baby. So, go to your doctor and make sure everything is ok. Good luck, and Congratulations!

Hi, Mine are 15 months apart. My daughter will be 4 soon and son 3 soon. They play together so nicely and have so much fun! My daughter got her first babydoll at 8 months old and patted it on the back and gave it kisses. She was so ready for her brother by the time she was 15 months old. She loved bringing me diapers or wipes to help with her little brother and loved holding the bottle to help feed him. She used to be the only one that could make him get that belly laugh. It's nice because you will have them in the double stroller together for quite a while - twins 3 months apart. Good luck to you! The pregnancy with my son went smoothly but I do remember getting quite tired near the end of the pregnancy with having my daughter still not wanting to sleep through the night and then chasing her around during the day. I did hire a mother's helper for a couple hours three days a week for the last month because I felt so bad that I wasn't able to take her to the park every day. So, I had my little mothers helper take her for walks down the street to the park and play with her. So, that would be one suggestion - near the end of the pregnancy - hire a mother's helper or have a friend or family member come over for a couple of hours here or there so that you can take a nap.

K.,

definitely go see your doc about the dull ache/pain on your side. Ask for an ultrasound.

As far as getting pregnant so soon, I was in your shoes too (new baby 6 weeks old). So, the last two are 13 months apart. I have heard that the risk of getting pregnant so soon after childbirth is that your uterus has not fully healed and therefore is not an 'ideal' environment, and that the placenta can suffer. but on the other hand, they say that the baby will get what it needs, but you will suffer (nutrition wise). Sooooo, I guess if you take your vitamins and eat well, that's about the best you can do, and the rest is in God's hands.

Also, I'm not sure if you are breastfeeding, but I have also read that nature will take care of the baby outside the body, before the baby inside the body, so if you're breastfeeding, you are taking away from the new baby. I'm not an expert and dont pretend to be... and I know women who have successfully breastfed while pregnant. Definitely ask your doctor what he recommends.

Good luck to you, let us know what happens!

There is no increased risk of miscarriage. Mainly the risk is to you in terms of depleting your body. It's important to make sure you eat very well and take care of your body. Ideal spacing is usually at least a year, but there is no reason that you won't have a healthy pregnancy. My oldest was 8 months old when I got pregnant with my next child.

My boys are 12 months and 10 days apart. My first was an emergency c-section and the second was a repeat section. The only concerns my OB had about me having the two so close were that I eat healthy enough and get enough rest, and she was concerned about the health of my uterus since it didn't have a lot of time to recover. She just watched the growth of my second a lot more closely. Everything turned out fine, and now the two of them are 3 and 4 and they get along incredibly!

My 2 boys are 13 months apart. My 1st was a C-section and the 2nd a VBAC. There were no risks that I was aware of. Take care of yourself and be careful picking up your baby as you and the baby both start to get bigger!! CONGRATULATIONS!!

I had three kids in three years. If your body and mind can handle it. It can be done. Good luck.
