Nope I think it is an individual thing. We do not know any children that were ever tongue tied and we know tons of kids that were premature..
i was just curious on your thoughts about this because my son was premature and tongue tied and have seen stories on other babies born premature and tongue tied do you think they are linked somehow maybe in the lack of growth and development possibly? or any info from nurses out there who may know more on the subject??
thanks guys i was just curious, you were very helpful in making my mind at peace about this issue.

I don't think it's more common in preemies. My son was a little tongue tied and he was born perfectly healthy 3 days before his due date. His pediatrician said there is no real identified cause with tongue tie.
I don't think its related. tongue tie is genetic.
I don't think it's related. I have 2 kids that were tongue tied (out of 4) and none of my babies have been premature. In fact, the last one was just 4 days before his due date and weighed in at 8 lbs 10 oz!
