I am so embarrased(sp?) I think I might be pregnant...again. I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old. I am exclusively breastfeeding and couldn't tolerate the POP's so I'm not any any backup birth control. My husband uses the "pull out" method, which, I know is a joke. That's how #2 came. I can't really get out to get a test for a couple of days, so if anyone has info...great! I have had extreme "wetness"( colorless odorless yuck) for about a week now and cramping like I'm about to start my period although I haven't had one yet post-partum. Any gals out there get preggo while nursing and not yet menstruating? Maybe I'm about to start? Maybe I'm having extreme ovulation? I feel so stupid for not using backup!! Thanks Mamas!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you ladies for your responses. I took a test and I'm not pregnant. I'm still having the symptoms so I think you all are right that my body is just getting ready.

It could just be your body getting back to normal and your period is about to start. However, it is entirely possibly (though rare) to get pregnant when you aren't having periods. It happened to me with my #1. I hadn't seen AF in about 6 months when all or a sudden I found out I was pregnant!

Either way, a baby is always a blessing. It may be a difficult time, but think about how wonderful your first two are. Congratulations!

I have your same symptoms, and I am 7 months post partum with my second as well. (My oldest is 2 1/2 - we should get together some time! :) ) Anyways, my thinking is that you may be getting ready to start your cycle back. We have been using BC (condoms), and I haven't had my first cycle yet (I am nursing)....BUT, I am quite sure that I am NOT pregnant. My son just started sleeping through the night about 2 weeks ago so I'm thinking that my body is just beginning to get back on track. Is your 6 month old sleeping through the night? I know I have been moodier lately. If you need to commiserate, feel free to contact me - ____@____.com. (I'd like to find out if you are or are not pregnant too.)

Joyce,

You sound just like me except I had a period and it stopped. I have a 4 month old who I am breastfeeding, and when she was 6 weeks I had a period, and then again when she was 2 months, but I havent had one since. I have been cramping really bad, and I keep thinking I should start again because of the cramps. I am too scared to take a test. I have been extremely tired too and nauseous a month ago....but I have been under a lot of stress so I am hoping that is all it is. Good Luck!!! : )

You absolutely can get pregnant while nursing, but you may start soon. I am six months post partum and I just started back on the pill after last months scare! I haven't really had a "period" since the baby - just some very light spotting. But I felt kinda icky, but didn't start for about 1 1/2 weeks later. When I did start, it was AWFUL. Maybe you are just about to have your first REAL period. I wouldn't stress out just yet. Needless to say, I am now back on the pill! (Although, I just rememebered after reading this e-mail that I forgot to take mine last night!) It's hard to get backin the habit of taking a pill every night.

I've been cloned! A 2 year old, a 6 month old and YES you can get pregnant without a period as I did with number 3. That's not to say that you are, but just answering that yes you can. I'm proof. I too was embarrased at the time, and the first few years were rough, but then it's great. The only really hard time was the grocery store trips.

Wishing you well.

I had weaned for the most part, but hadn't gotten a period for months, and we got pregnant. Those cramps you described were my first indicator.

Yes you can get pregnant while nursing and don't get your period. I was nursing my second one when I found out I was pregnant with my 3rd. It started to hurt to nurse my daughter and it was very painful everytime I did nurse her. I went into the drs. office and sure enough I was 7 weeks pregnant. I thought the dr. was joking with me but she wasn't.
