I had the same reaction, but once I stopped using it, it cleared up. Hope that happens for you as well!
I'm about 37 weeks pregnant and about a week ago I used palmers cocoa butter lotion and almost instantly everywhere I used the lotion broke into a rash. Of course I stopped using it, and I've been putting aloe on to relieve the burning but has anyone else had this problem before? and if you had was there anything you found that helped you out?
I went to the doctors and she said its PUPPS. I guess this kind of allergic reaction is pretty common to pregnant women who use this lotion. So why do they advertise it for pregnancy? So, I have to take some benadryl, and if it doesn't clear up in a week, or within a week it gets worse, I may have to be induced. =\ well wish me luck.

Exact same thing happened to me. I just stopped using it and it cleared up. I just used my regular lotion instead...Jergen's....still got a ton of stretch marks! Now I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant with my second and starting to add more marks. I didn't think it was possible. Oh well, good-bye bikini and hello one-piece.
Good luck with the rash and I hope you can be in the minority who stay stretch-mark free!
You could also rub hydrocortisone creme on the areas, but I'd definitely pass it by your OB to make sure. When I was pregnant I, for some reason, got hives on my belly and was afraid to take anything but the itching was so bad I went to the ER and they just hooked me to a baby monitor and gave me a benadryl drip.
I had a reaction to a cleansing oil last year and am now sensitive to many products I normally used. The steroid cream prescription did not help. My dermatologist recommended the Vanicream line of products, and said to do as little as possible with the skin to allow it to heal. Vanicream has a soap as well as the lotion. Hope your rash is clearing up.
I had the same reaction. I used an oatmeal bath to help relieve the itching and burning. Aveeno sells one that is really great but make sure you use warm water--not too hot--and make sure to mix it well. It comes in a box of maybe 8 packets. If taking a bath to soak a bit is too awkward for you. You can also mix it in about a gallon of water and then put in on as a compress using a soft cloth.
I had a terrible allergic reaction to a "hypo-allergenic" breast balm, the lactation nurse suggested I use olive oil and it works great! I did have to take a little benadryl and I swabbed the rashy area with witch hazel to ease the itch and shrink the red bumps.
Try shea butter for your skin in a small area to see if it's a good substitute for the cocoa butter.
after you clear up your rash, you could probably still use cocoa butter, but you have to use 100% cocoa butter. palmer's has tons of synthetic chemicals in it in addition to cocoa butter. good luck!
I never really used the cocoa butter lotion, but our Dermatologist recommended using Vanicream for our daugther's eczema. It's a really good, really thick lotion without any dyes, fragrances, etc. We use it for just about everything now. It costs ~$10 for a BIG tub. Most pharmacies will carry 1 or 2 tubs, so you may need to have them order it.
If you're still having hives/rash, I'd ask your OB/GYN which antihistamine is available to alleviate the symptoms. You're far enough along in your pregnancy that many things that may have been a concern the first trimester may be OK to use now, but I'd always advise speaking with your OB/GYN to be sure.
Hi L.,
I'm allergic to chocolate, so I didn't try this coca butter lotion.
Throuhout both pregnancy, I used Mustella Stretch Mark lotion. For my son, my mother would send it to me from France but than I discovered than they sell it also in USA and I bought it from a pharmacy during my second pregnancy.
Result: no stretch marks for him. Small ones for her that I got the very last week, when she was overdue!
