Pregnant and Lite Bleeding

My step sister got her period like clockwork every month of all 3 pregnancies. It was lighter than normal, but there. The only problem that developped is that they are teenagers, LOL!

I had that problem throughout my entire pregnancy, sometimes very lightly, and sometimes so badly that I thought that I was miscarrying! After tons of unnecessary ultrasounds, I delivered a perfect little bundle of joy. I just never got that 9 month break from mother nature (and it was constant, not just monthly! Ugh!) I don't know why it happens to some women, but it happens more than you would think. Check with your OBGYN or midwife though to be sure... of course bleeding can be bad in some cases. It was just an annoyance for me though. I hope this gives you some positive insight.

for some women they do continue to get a period in the first trimester (I had one friend who got a full heavy period until she was 5 months pregnant, and another friend got a lighter period till she was 4 months pregnant).

But calling an ob and getting in to see them sooner rather than later isn't a bad idea either.

If you get any cramping with the bleeding go to the ER to have it checked.

I have know women that will have a regular cycle through out the pregnancy. Also some bleeding will happen when it attaches to you uterine wall. The best thing is to go to your OB and make sure everything is OK. They also have better tests and you could just have a false positive.

Some times it's normal, but better to see a doctor.

it's very typical to have light spotting for the first couple of months. I have many friends who have had this, and had completely normal pregnancies... Take a deep breath and enjoy your blessed event!

I had this with my daughter, and have friends that had this for several months in the beginning. The main concern is your definition of 'light'. If its that there is something on the tp but not in the water, its probably ok. if something is getting to the water, you should be checked. Its better to be checked than to sit and wonder.

If you haven't already, go ahead and start pre-natal vitamins. there are some available over-the-counter.

no ive been pregnant 3 times im sure thats not normal. they say any time there is bleeding you need to call the doctor. and if you dont have a doctor yet go to the er. better safe then sorry, good luck

Light bleeding is normal....but if it is excessive, you should make an appointment with your ob/gyn. Sometimes when the egg attaches to the uterus it may bleed...and some women have reported to always have light periods during pregnancy - more like spotting(like shows "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant"). But having excessive bleeding (like filling a pad within an hour) is not normal and you should see your doctor right away. This could be a sign of miscarriage. Let us know how it goes and God bless.

Of course you need to set up an appointment with an OB and tell them about it when you first call. You should start regular pre-natal appointments as soon as you find out your pregnant. Thats first and foremost, but don't panic my mom had a full period for the first 4 months of both her pregnancies and I'm just fine, and my sister had a lite period for 3 days about 2 weeks after she found out she was pregnant and my niece is a healthy 3 year old. But you should defintely call the doctor today and get an appointment, they should fit you right in as along as you tell them everything when you call. Good Luck and Be Safe!

What you are describing can be a bit scary but is completely normal! It happened to me in both times. I won't get into details, but unless you are also having painful cramping and/or an increase in bright red blood then you should be fine. Just try and relax and mention it to your OB at the next visit.

I had this during my first trimester of first pregnancy. It is normal. Check with your doc just to be sure though. They did a sonogram right away, but said a little spotting was ok.

Bleeding can be a "normal" occurance when the egg implants to the uterus or abnormal in cases of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. You should see your OB. Only other thing that wasn't mentioned is that you should be on pelvic rest while you bleed because if you have a threatened miscarriage, it could further put the pregnancy at risk. Your OB will probably need to draw serial bHCG levels every two days and then followed by an ultrasound to see if you have an intruterine pregnancy. Good luck and God Bless.
