C., I was numb below my breasts/above my belly for the second half of my pregnancy. It was annoying, but it went away after my son was born. No problems since.

I'm not a doctor or anything. Does the feeling you have radiate more on the right side under the bra line? If so, when I was pregnant with my oldest I had a constant tingling, burning type feeling there. When i spoke to my OB about it he said he thought it was my gall bladder simply being irritated from the baby pushing everything up. He said it was nothing to worry about. It was really annoying though. I hope this helps. Good luck and congrats.

I had the exact same thing in the exact same place. I would even pinch the skin and feel nothing. I thought it was odd too. Just one day it all started and I can completely remember the day like it was yesterday. The burning, numbness, yet pain. I totally had it and in the exact same spot you mentioned. We had a 3-D ultrasound of our baby just for the fun of it and that is when i realized the pain, numbness, burning was right were my babies little tushy was pushing up under my ribcage. I was at 30 weeks then....so your issue sounds very similar! Sometimes the pain would come on stronge after a meal, so I think maybe her tushy was pushing on my gall bladder. I never found a cure, other than giving birth and getting her out of me. I have all feeling back, no tingling, no pain. I wish I knew back then that other women had the same feeling, as I thought I was the only one.

I had the same thing. (I had my first baby in August) It only lasted thru the pregnancy and then it went away. I never asked the dr. about it. I also had a lot of problems with my baby's feet sticking in my ribs, (she actually knocked one out of it's socket), so I just figured that one of her feet was somehow hitting a nerve or something like that that caused the numbness and tingling. Now you know it's happened to someone else! :)

C., I had the very same problem on my right side, and top of the rib cage area. I guess it wasn't really too painful, but it was really annoying and uncomfortable. It was almost as if that area went numb. I had it with both of my pregnancies around the 30 week mark. I told my doctors about it, but they didn't really seem to get too worried. Good luck with your condition. I know it was really annoying and uncomfortable, but when you get to this stage of your pregnancy what isn't, right? Just remember it will be all over in a couple of months and the results are worth it.

I had tingling and severe burning about that distance under my bra line and right at the edge of my ribs (close to my sternum). Mine was due to baby. During my third trimester, my ribs felt like they were on fire. I'm not sure if this is what you are feeling, but if it is hang in there. The burning went away a month or so after delivery. My boy is 17 months old now, and sometimes I still have that numb, tingly feeling in my ribs. But it is very tolerable considering. And naturally, it is worth the pain endured to have the little guy to laugh with every day!

Congrats and Hang in There!

No, have never heard of this problem, it could be your milk glands, but I'd ask OBGYN so you can relax

if it's under your right ribs it could be your stomach or gall bladder complaining about being squished.

Any where else I would think it's just your muscles adjusting to having a larger load in there. Stretching and adjusting to the length of your uterus.

I never experienced it that I remember, Try to relax though.

As always, ask your dr. I had the same thing, I think, on my right side with my first pregnancy. I would get it under my bra in my rib from 24 weeks on, then I would also get it really bad in my right hip down.I was told it must be how the baby was positioned or sitting inside of you. Good luck! As my OB always said, "the joys of pregnancy!!" :)

I have never heard of that, but have you thought about trying to wear bras w/ no underwire or even a sports bra? How about tank tops w/ built in bras? Hang in there - just a few more weeks left. Good luck!

If your problem is right in the middle of your chest where your sternum is, I had the same problem. I ask some of the nurses and doctors I work with and they said it was ok. it was probably just a nerve the baby was aggervating

Hope this helps

C.,

I had the exact same problem with my recent pregnancy and it was darn annoying. I asked my OB/GYN about it and he said that there is a nerve that runs right underneath your rib cage (from the sturnum following the line of the ribs down your front toward your back, if that makes sense). The baby is "pinching" that nerve between your ribs and the baby's body causing the sensations your are feeling. It is nothing to worry about and doesn't effect the baby. It will go away when your little bundle of joy makes their grand appearance. Good Luck and Congratulations!

Actually I did, except it was in my upper leg. They just explained it as the baby is growing and pinching a nerve. It didn't last the whole pregnancy.

I would say it sounds likes utero growth. You will feel stretching and pulling or even burning in the oddiest of places during times of your pregnancy. Try lying a bit on the oppisite side of the pain. The bra ides sounds good too. If it doesnt get better within a few days I would call up the doc. In the mean time take note of the feeling and times its at its worst, that will help out the doc a great deal.

Hello C..
As a chiropractor that works with pregnant women quite a bit, I can assure you that you are not alone. This happens to many pregnant women (and non-pregnant people!). I'd suggest seeing a chiropractor. It is absolutely safe during pregnancy and I am confident you'll see some great results. Let me know if you need a referral in your area.
Have a safe and healthy pregnancy

When I was pregnant I had pressure & tingling about the same area. It wasn't until I was in the hospital the morning of my daughter's birth watching the machine that monitors contractions that I realized that that's what I'd been feeling for the last few weeks of my pregnancy. She is my only child & I'd never heard of contractions across the top of your belly - live & learn.

Ask your doctor though, just to be sure.

Congrats!

I don't know if this is what you experienced, but I had pretty bad pain/discomfort right around/under my bra line from 5 or so months on in my pregnancy. I don't remember it falling asleep, just hurting pretty much all the time. The doctor said it was because my rib cage was having to expand to accommodate the baby, rising organs, etc. and what I was feeling was ligaments stretching. Ouch! Maybe you're actually experiencing the same thing, or maybe it is putting pressure on a nerve. The only thing that helped me was to take off my bra and wear a camisole instead as often as possible- oh, and ibuprofen. or was it tylenol? Which ever one you can take during pregnancy.
I sympathize with you, that's really terrible. Good luck.

It's the most annoying problem I think I had during my pregnancy other than the back pain. I still had some problems a few days after I had my baby, but it does go away. It's rather painful and hard to describe. I know what you're going through but I promise it gets better. Good luck. A.

Your baby is probably sitting on your nerve, have you tried to reposition the baby? My son sat on my sayatic (SP) nerve the last few months, boy did it hurt! I had to go get back massages to get relief.
