It is normal. I have implants and I have sucessfully breastfed two babies since getting them. Good luck and congrats!
I am 29 weeks pregnant and my boobs are doing some strange things. I know they are supposed to go through so changes (i'm not totally dense), but no where does it tell you the progression of these changes. I have very slight clear liquid coming from my nipples on my right side. Is this normal? If it is the first signs of lactation, is it normal for one to start before the other? The left one is starting to feel the same aches the other one did before the liquid came out. Since I had breast augmentation, I was not sure I would lactate and if this is lactation, I am honestly very excited.
Thank you for your advice!

As you have by now discovered, it is perfectly normal to leak colostrum. If you had a premie today you would be able to feed your baby exactly what was needed. I can't encourage you strongly enough to take a breastfeeding class before delivery. Either at the hospital or thru the Nestingplace as long as you get good information and resources to help you along the way.

This is colostrum, and the beginning of lactation. I am so excited for you, I loved it when I found out that is what it was for me too.

I am also 29 weeks pregnant (but this is my second baby girl)! I am having the same things happen as well. It will happen more in the shower and once you start breastfeeding it will happen even more. Right now this is colostrum (not sure of spelling) and a couple of days after your baby is born it will turn into milk! Good Luck and Congrats!!!!
Hi Jodi,
It's very normal. When I was pregnant with my daughter, my breasts did the same thing. It was very weird at first. And you may see it get worse while you're in the shower. I think maybe the hot water stimulates them or something. And don't worry if it's just one that's leaking right now.

I am 25 weeks pregnant and this started happening to me in about my 20th week. This is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.
Hi Jodi and congrats!! Yes, that is normal. It is the beginning of your breasts preparing to lactate. It is colostrum. I have worked in post partum for quite a while and it is common to hear woman say that they started this at the beginning of their third trimester. I did as well with my now 7 month old son. It is more common to have problems breast feeding after a reduction versus an augmentation. I had a reduction and while I did lactate some I could not breast feed. My little guy would have starved as little came out. Don't worry, it sound totally normal. Hope you have an easy rest of your pregnancy and a quick, problem free delivery!!

Having implants should not get in the way of your ability to breast feed in any way. I've had several friends with implants (and one with reduction which is a whole nuther story) who breast fed exclusively and successfully. Here's a link to a great site that might help answer any questions you have: http://www.kellymom.com/health/lifestyle/mom-activities.h...
Regarding the leaking, it's not uncommon for some women to leak. It didn't happen to me, but I remember a few women on one of my birth boards who experienced it. If you're concerned, by all means ask your Dr though. Regarding the one side vs the other, I do know that one breast will be more of a "work horse" than the other. This is very common. Sometimes the baby will prefer one breast over the other too. In my case, it was my right breast. I dont' know if it's because I'm right handed and that side has always been a little bigger or not.
If you are interested in breastfeeding, which I personally highly recommend, you might want to check out a La Leche League meeting before you have the baby. You can ask all sorts of questions and they will be answered by either a leader or another nursing mother. I found this sort of support great since no one in my immediate family (other than my sister who had her kids a long long time ago) had nursed their babies. I found a lot of information that dispelled a lot of myths I had heard (ie not eating chocolate or onions while you're nursing). You don't have to join or be a member to attend either. The meetings are free and open to any woman.
Good luck with your pregnancy!!
Congrats on the new baby to be. AS far as your question. Yes this is quite normal, It happened to me w/both of my pregnancy and even more so when you take a shower. It even happened when I was at the mall and heard a crying baby and was being stimulated by my husband.
Good Luck.
