We are on baby #3 unplanned so i got rid of all my maternity clothes from before and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience or advice on belly bands (stretchable cotton/spandex/elastic pants extenders to let you wear your pre pregnancy pants longer NOT the button hole extenders) i have seen many diferent ones in magazines but would like to hear good and bad experiences and where to buy good ones.

What can I do next?

I have heard they are really helpful and am planning on getting some myself - because I had the button expanders last time and they were not very useful.

theres a terrific gal online - www.belly-jeans.com

she has some nice things in stock, and you can send her your jeans and she turns them into maternity. I did this with several pairs that I bought at the goodwill...I can't remember the exact price, but the total cost with shipping ended up being cheaper than buying new maternity clothes...and they fit really good!!! (not to mention very stylish!) of course it's a permanent thing, but maternity clothes bring big bucks on garage sales or ebay! good luck!!

I wouldn't recommend the belly bands... They don't really do a whole lot. I bought 2 that were Bella Bands which is a good kind, but they just aren't that handy. They would be fine right away, but if you do any moving, they ride up and you constantly have to adjust them. Instead, I slipped an elastic ponytail through the button hole and looped both ends around the button. I could still zip the jeans all the way until about 5 months. It works!

I have two Bella Bands. I wore them through my whole pregnancy and I still wear them sometimes now. My boobs are bigger than they used to be (thanks to twins) so some of my shirts are too short now. I use my Bella Band to keep my belly covered so I can still wear some of my old clothes. Personally, I thought they helped more to keep my pregnant belly covered under my shirt than to extend the use of my pants.

I bought 2 belly bands from Modern Maternity, and I absolutely LOVE them!!! They are the best invention EVER!! They were only about 16 dollars a piece, and worth every penny. I just gave birth to my son, and I am still using them to keep my pants on! I highly recommend them!!!
