My hair changed when I became pregnant and changed again when I gave birth. I think it is just hormones. Keep taking vitamins and hopefully the hair will change back. Can you get a very short haircut? In my opinion it sometimes help.
This may sound crazy but has happened to me twice after both of my c-sections. My hair becomes very kinky curly and has a chemical odor to it. I'm a hairdresser so the way I would describe it is like I had a bad perm. It is so bad and my hair becomes very damaged. I know someone else out there has had this experience (Please), my sister in law had a section last year and it happend to her too. somebody please can you explain this to me?

I think it has something to do with the change in the hormone levels in estrogen after giving birth. I have heard of women who have experience some types of hair loss but no texture changes. When you are pregnant you have a higher level of estrogen. After giving birth it goes back to normal, maybe for you your level drop dramatically to the point that the texture dries out. hope this helps
That sounds like a question for a medical doctor. I had 3 c-sections and I don't recall that everything happening to me.
There is something with hair. It would be so interesting to research. I don't have your answer but am interested to hear more about hair. I know some people whose hair has gone from curly to straight.
After I had my second baby, natural vaginal birth, absolutely no drugs, I found a few hairs on my head that were kinky curly. They did not have an odor to it, and I occ. find a randomn hair like that. I have perfectly straight hair. It is just a randomn single hair I find here and there. So, I think it has to do with our body's hormones and nothing to do with a c-section. But, for me, it's only been about 6-10 strands of hair. I wonder if this happened to your whole head or just a few hairs??
Hi D.,
I don't really know the answer but I'm wondering if it's a reaction to the anesthesia or one of the drugs that you were given for surgery, you do get an awful lot of different drugs when you undergo cesarean surgery.
Good luck!

Sorry I don't have an answer but the same thing happened to me. I have three kids 5-1/2, 4 and 2 and the first and last were C-sections. Although there is no odor, my hair went from relatively straight to a perm gone bad. I call it my Sammy Hagar from Van Halen hair. It wouldn't be so bad if we were living in the 80's!! It will straighten nice with a flat iron but who has time to do that every day. I figured it was just from the hormones but who knows maybe it has something more to do with a C-Section. Sorry...no answers but I feel your pain!
