Hi Ladies
I am 23 weeks pregnant. I just found out a few days ago that I am having a girl. I already have a 3yr old boy.
We are delighted of course.
We are going to call her Sola but her offical name will be Solange.
This pregnancy is so much more difficult this time from severe morning sickness, headaches and aches and pains.
Are girls more difficult to rear once they are born lol
Is there a difference to rearing boys and girls?
Prepare me please.
All the best
B. k

I always thought I'd have boys. I have two girls, and we're stopping here. My first one is tough "like a boy"...the climbing, the testing mommy, the loud and the stubborn...

My second (so far) is sweet and kind, and happy.

I don't think this has one bit to do with their downstairs bits. I feel strongly that it's just how my kids are. And I love them like crazy. You will adore that little angel! And you would have just as much if she were a he. Congratulations and good luck!

Aw, congratulations! Little girls are so much fun! I have one of each, my daughter is 4 years older than my son. I have tried to raise them exactly the same, although they are as different as night and day! Daughter is very headstrong and independent, son is sensitive and a real homebody! I have to say my daughter has been the more challenging of the two, but maybe that's just because she was my first and I was a pretty clueless new mom. Or maybe it's just all the female hormones clashing! At any rate, I wouldn't say girls are more difficult overall, they're just different. Best of luck :)

Awww, B., congratulations! What wonderful news!

I had two boys before the girl, and really the primary difference between a girl infant and a boy infant is a girl does not pee in your eye while you're trying to change her diaper! tehehe

I thank God everyday for my relationship with my daughter, she's 14 now and we're pretty tight.

Enjoy it!

:)

As with all kids, it depends on the innate personality of the child.

My daughter was the easiest, happiest, sunniest, most independent baby, toddler, pre-teen and now young lady. Only a year or so of being kind of annoying/annoyed as a teen. She was easier than my boys.

Not all girls are that way, but over all, the manic, rough tendency of boys in their young years is more tiring, IMO.

Well my DD (5) is a very "headstrong" child. DS (1) is (so far) very much her opposite.

DD was a much easier pregnancy than DS though.

I actually saw a report that said the majority of strong willed children are boys...I was shocked. Wasn't a huge difference-like 45 to 55-but still!

Congrats! Girls are fun!

My first 2 children are boys, my third is a girl. I was the sickest and most uncomfortable with my girl. Didn't help that she spent most of the third trimester sideways, finally turning a couple weeks before she was born.
Honestly she's been a breaze to take care of. So was my second son. My first can be a handful. I don't think it has anything to do with boy or girl but personality of the child. My second and third have been so laid back and mellow in comparison to my first.
The only difference I see so far is the plumbing and I can put my little girl's hair up in piggie tails LOL
They all love to play together be it tea parties or trains or dolls or trucks.
We just raise them as kids and leave it at that.
Congratulations on your upcoming daughter!

It's not very different. There are different levels of different hormones, etc that are distributed so there are gender differences, but most of it is just individual differences. You can read the book raising girls. It's a good book that talks about well, raising girls lol. I have a little girl and she runs, climbs on everything, jumps in the mud, prefers sports over dolls, still plays with stuffed animals though, likes to dress up as a princess, loves to be read to and look at books, but like I said it's more individualistic. I had no aches, pains, morning sickness in my pregnancy. I had an awesome pregnancy besides my feet swelling and getting tired faster than usual when I did physical activity. But in the end, you raise either gender with positive reinforcement and respect and they both turn out to great adults.

@Emily, that is a little shocking but that's coming from me because I have a super strong-willed daughter lol.

Girls are very different! I have two sons and a daughter. My girl is much more complicated emotionally. Boys are more straightforward. And boys are naturally more aggressive - sorry that's not politically correct, but it has to do with their hormone levels. Of course, the individual's personality factors in, too. I recommend "Bringing Up Boys" and "Bringing Up Girls" by Dr. Dobson. Real helpful books!
Congratulations! Girls are wonderful!

I have no clue because I had all boys....and they were all very similar.....

BUT WOOOOOHHHHHOOOO ON HAVING A GIRL!!!!! It is one club I will never be able to join....until my boys get married.....I have always wanted to have a girl:)))

I am so Happy for you mama!!!

I grew up with two sisters.....And let me tell you...night and day...I helped with my little sister because, I was seven when she was born. I thought having boys would be a cake walk because my sister was a butt.....Nope! Boys have SO much more energy then my little sister had. They get into everything...and can be alot meaner physically. Were little girls if they get nasty can be more emotionally mean...i.e. not talking to ones friend..silent treatment. Boys...just punch or hit....then move on:)

Again I have no REAL mom aged wisdom for raising girls. My little sister is a bad example...And having had ALL boys that have been VERY active their whole lives, makes it a bad example.

You will probably see that the differences between the different sexes is not all that different. It would see to me that having a girl would be a bit easier because you are not caring for a circumcision(if you had one done on your son). I think having the added stress of keeping my kids snip snip clean, really made the first few weeks that much more stressful.

Ginger ginger ginger for the yuck tummy!! Any form you can get it into you as...do it!! It will help with the yucks.

Hopefully, the yucks will be over soon. Though, I have heard that they can stick around longer when you are caring a girl. This is nothing scientific...just going off of those I know who had girls:)

Congrats! You've gotten great advice already. I think every child is different and the sex doesn't matter. In my case, I have one of each, both as infants were really easy but my daughter is much tougher, stronger willed and independent then my son, who is willing and wanting to please and listens very well. Good luck!

Congratulations! I have a girl, 4.5 and a boy, 18 months and they have been quite different! My daughter was in many ways easier than my son, mostly because she was a better sleeper and slept through the night on her own at 10 months. My son still has sleeping difficulties and I'm still tired!
I have to say, too, that it's SO MUCH FUN dressing little girl babies and little girls. You don't have to go overboard to have fun with all those clothes and colors. My daughter was born a shoe hound and absolutely loves clothes and fashion. I imagine my boy will remain uninterested in his apparel but that's easier in some ways, too. And cheaper!
Enjoy yourself!
By the way, I've heard that boys have a hard time adjusting initially to a younger baby sister but become wonderfully protective as they get older.

Aww, a little "split tail", that's what we call girls in our family.
I only have two sons so I don't know about raising daughters, but I do think they are probably a little different to raise. Look how we are now? lol
Congrats on the daughter B., and the name is very beautiful and unique.

I have 3 girls. I do not think they are more difficult than boys just different. My friend has 3 boys and they are so loud and wild that every time I leave her house I thank my lucky stars that I have girls. I adore having daughters!

I have 2 girls (2&4) and I love it. Most of my friends have all boys and I believe girls are so much easier when they are younger. My girls get dressed by themselves, clean up and are super easy. Girls are definitely more emotional/dramatic. I also teach high school and academically girls have less problems in school.
