Hi K.,

What is the reason why he is on both of these meds.

They both do have terrible side effects.

I was on both of them myself. If you'd like to talk more...my e-mail address is ____@____.com

I eventually developed an allergic reaction to the cellcept.

i was on prednisone long term (4 yrs) for crohns disease til i had surgery and went into remission. the side effects stink. i have horrible joint problems now due to the prednisone. it wore away at the cartilage in my knees and i need to go see an orthopedic about surgery.

My daughter(14mos) was just on pred. due to h1n1 turning into pneumonia and haveing a ashtma attack. We had NO bad side effects. I call it a miracle drug, it even made my bald baby's hair finally start to grow. My daughter went from bald to needing her hair brushed and done in about a month's time.

I've had other family members who have been prescribed pred. for other reason and again no bad reactions.

I should add my daughter and other family members were only on this med.temporarily like 1 week or less.

K.,
I'm so sorry to hear of your son's need to take these medications. I don't know anything about cellcept, but I took prednisone for a year. Do be prepared for radical changes in his personality like moodiness and indecision. Also, I couldn't get enough to eat but later realized I was never truly hungry, I just wanted to eat. For me, the mooning of the face was the most traumatic experience. Sensitivity to this was important for me but it does go away after the tapering off of the medication. Best of luck to you and I hope it isn't something he has to take for long.

My almost-3-year-old has been on pred a few times due to asthma. My 8-month-old has already had it once. They don't seem to suffer from side effects.

I don't have a child on those drugs (although DS sometimes uses prednisone for an asthma flare-up) but I personally am on both. I have been on prednisone for 9 years--started out at a high dose but now am on a low dose. I only experienced the side effects (hungry all the time, moon face, etc.) when I was on the high doses. I have been on the cellcept for 5 years now and have not experienced any side effects. Why is your son taking those meds and how long do they plan to keep him on them?

Hi,
I am on both of those medicines for my lung disease. I have been on them for 6 years now and haven't had any problem with the cellcept but the prednisone has caused me to need a hip replacement which I am scheduled to have this month. It also can cause cateracts with long term use. There are a lot of side effects from the prednisone. I unfortunately will never get off of it but I hope your son is only on it for short term. Good Luck and if you want to talk more send me a message.
Thanks,
D.
