I take Advil and lots of water, and honestly, sometimes nothing helps. Chocolate never helps the headache and PMS symptoms I get... cruel irony that it makes it worse for me but I crave it. I just love being a woman. I usually pound the water and suffer through those last couple of PMS days and the first period day, then it goes away after that. I guess I have just learned to live with the discomfort after all these years! Hang in there... relief will come!

I used to get anemic right before and during my period. It really helped me to eat iron rich foods and make sure my iron levels didn't get low. I used to feel like I got hit by a bus and my head like it would explode. These things got MUCH better when I got my iron levels good. Also, taking magnesium supplements helped tremendously. That's more for long term management, though. For the immediate, I have found aleve helps.

I take Asprin, like Bayer. It works soo much better than Tylenol, or Ibuprofen for me, and you take a lower dose.

I get head aches that sometimes turn into full blown migraines.
I up my calcuim intake. I crave cheese in Everything right before my period and I find if I eat it the headaches are less severe. An ice pack to the base of the neck and temples helps soothe a lot of the headache. I will also drink a gatorade. I think it's the extra electrolites that help. I will also have 2 in stead of 1 cup of caffinated coffee or I'll let myself splurge and have a Dr Pepper or something which I drink so rarely. Also make sure you are drinking enough water. Caffine will remove more fluids from you than usual so you can end up mildly dehydrated so up your water to more than you normally would.
I can't take Advil because it ironically gives me migraines and I can't take asprin because it makes me ill. So I'm left with Tylenol. I like to take it sparingly so I use these other methods to get through it.

PMS headaches, do not go away for me. But it lasts only 1 day, pre.
So I just deal with it saying "Mommy has a BAD headache today! Behave okay?" to my kids.
And then I get a headache, after my period ends, too.

Oh yah and like Bug says, I like Aleve too. But for regular aches/pains.

Or, try drinking more coffee.

Honestly, chocolate. But, I've been trying to exercise. I've developed headaches and insomnia - something I used to tease my mom about when I was a teen (karma).

I up the self care big time - Omega 3's, spinach, water, ... and yeah, still lots of chocolate.
