Potty Training a 2 1/2Yr Old

So it seems my daughter might be ready for potty training. How do I go about this??
She sometimes seems upset about messing herself and will let me know.
Sometimes she tells me that she's "pooped" and I check her and nothing.
Sometimes she doesn't care and will sit in her dirty diaper and flip out if I try to change her!
Does this sound like she's ready?
How do I get her to go in the potty?
Help! :)

What can I do next?

I had both of my girls pottytrained at around 2. We put them in the thick training undies with the vinyl covers over (I've found them at Target). We used the little potty that goes over the toilet. So I basically told them to let me know when they needed to go potty, emphasized "you're a big girl now" etc. For the night you might want to use a diaper or pull up but with my first daughter she took it off saying "I don't need this, I'm a big girl now". They were trained pretty quickly with few accidents. Good luck!

It sounds like she is starting to show an intrest in going on the potty. We took my girls shopping for "big" girl panties. We let her pick out the ones that she wanted. This worked great for two of them, but my third one took a little longer. She finally got it though! Another thing I did with my oldest was that she got to pick out the potty chair. With my third we discovered that she just wanted the Dora seat that went on the top of the toilet. I think it made her feel the same as the older girls. My one advice is stay away from Pull Ups EXCEPT for naptime and bedtime!

Sounds like she's ready.
Do the 3-day- go nowhere thing.
You stay home.
Put them in underwear. Take her to store to pick out her own "big girl"
underwear.
give them water, juice. Ask them if they need to pee. Take them to the
potty every so often.
At the end of each day, you do a little celebration: (balloons, confetti, a
cupcake, streamers, a tiny gift.).
always be positive. Never be mean, demeaning, mad or punishing if they
have a mistake. and they will, one or two.
Also, tackle pee in the toilet first, poo is secondary.
On the 3rd day, you have a little bit bigger party w/a slightly bigger gift.
