I say go for it, but make sure you are committed to the time it may take. Some kids pick it up quickly, while others may take longer.
Is he in the daycare with you? Are you responsible for his care or is someone else at the daycare? If it's someone else, let them know that you think he's ready. One thing about daycare is that they usually wait until the child is starting to tell people when s/he needs to go, either by talking or getting their attention in some way, I don't know what the norm is at your daycare.
The point is, it needs to be a joint effort. If they start potty training at the daycare, then you need to continue it at home. If they're doing it by taking hi every 15 minutes, then you should do the same. Communication is a big thing as well. You may not think that he understands, but they understand more than we think. Don't forget to show praise and encouragement! Hope this helps...
