Potty Training - Frisco, TX

I am a single mom of two, and recently my 31 month old, has started taking her diaper off every time she goes down for a nap or to bed at night. I have tried, duct taping the diaper, puting it on backwards, puting her in clothes that are hard to get out of with no avail! I have tried pull ups and putting her into regular big-girl panties, still not working. Any other suggestions?

What can I do next?

If she is in a toddler bed try putting a potty chair by her bed adn a nite light. Tell her that she can not potty in her bed or she will have to wear a pullup and just leave one out. If she has to potty at night she has to get up and go potty. Soon she'll be able to make it down the hall to the big bathroom be herself.

We went through this with my younger daughter. She is a hard sleeper so we knew she would not wake up to go in the middle of the night. So, we cut off all liquids after 7:00PM, made her go before she went to bed at 8:30, and woke her up to go again just before we went to bed at 11:30, midnight or whatever. And of course the first one up made her go ASAP. Some days we still had to change sheets in the morning, but more often than not she was dry. Hang in there and be patient!

V.,

You are a woman after my husbands own heart. LOL I love the duct tape part. That is so funny. My 30 month old son started taking his diaper off and saying go potty. So I would take him and he would go but when I ask him if he has to go any other time he tells me no unless I offer a "Surprise". I like you am unsure how to get him to start just going potty. I have noticed that if I don't put a diaper on him he usually holds it until I put a diaper on him. I know Great! Anyway I look forward to seeing posts from other moms maybe I can walk away with some good advise.

well she is definately ready to be potty trained... pull ups was my suggestion to and making a big deal about how they are big girls panties and make it exciting for her to have them on.. but not just at bedtime, she might be connecting that with a not so fun time so she doesn't like them for that reason... all i can really say is be patient.. hard as it is!!! good luck.. manda

My daughter went through that when she was two and a friend of mine told me to get pj's that zip up and turn them around so the zipper is on their back. You will have to remove the feet if they are footed pj's. I was going to try it, but she stopped. You could also try pull ups when she goes to bed I would stay away from Huggies they have a velcro so very eay to remove. I potty trained my daughter at 29 months. I didn't think she was ready (she had no interest in it what so ever), but I was ready so I just did it. She caught on very quickly and was (pee) potty trained in 3 days, then fully potty trained in 2 1/2 months (poop took us a little longer). Everyone kept telling me wait she will let you know when she is ready, but that was not happening so I just did it. She will probably do very well if you try potty training. Just remember no diaper or pull-ups it is a little messy, but only for a couple of days.

My son did the same thing.LOL I found that if I put packing tape all the way around the top so it would make a complete circle he was unable to take off his diaper. I also had to make sure I ended in the middle of the back part of the diaper. The packing tape was thinner than duct tape so it was a lot harder to get off. Good luck!!

I know you said you tried duct tape but have you tried taping the shirt and pants together that seems to work a little bett oterwise they just slide the diper off anyway.I know this is frustrating and wish i had better advice.
