I am in the process of Potty Training our 2 1/2 year old daughter and it seems as if we move 1 step forward and 3 steps back. Can anyone suggest some great ideas, website's book's video's etc on how to make this process a success.

What can I do next?

Disney's Ber in the Big Blue House - Potty Time with Bear - is a GREAT DVD. It was recommended by a friend with 3 daughters & my daughter loves it. She is 4 1/2 & completely trained, but still loves to watch it. We even used it to get through a set-back with some accidents a few months ago. Good Luck! And have some patience, it does not happen overnight :)

I have 5 kids and my son just finished potty training himself. I am a big believer in not pushing it at all and they will decide for themselves that it is a cool thing to do. The only thing I did do to help out with the process is let my son or when I was doing my daughters see us go to the bathroom, then get really excited when anything happened. I would also tell them "I am so nice, I let my poopies go swimming in the water." Gross I know, but it works. Then I would ask if they wanted to try, if yes... GREAT, in not that was fine too. Absolutely no pressure. This has ALWAYS proven to be very successful. And it takes all the stress out of it and no messes to ever have to clean up. My son just turned 3 in March and has been potty trained for 2 weeks now and hasn't even peed the bed at night.... YET. Hope this helps. Good luck

www.3daypottytraining.com is what worked for me & my daughter. She'll be 3 in July and I did the 3 day training with her at 25 months.

"Potty Training in a day or less" is a great book! Not only for first time attempts at potty training, but also potty training set backs.

The other thing I have found that works is just waiting until your child is ready. I was so excited about potty training my first child that I started around 2 1/2 and kept potty training for a year or more! With my second son, I waited until he was three. We had one accident at Home Depot and that was it - he was potty trained in less than a day (this is the first time I used the book I mentioned above.) When they are ready, they will let you know. To try before hand is frustrating to you and your child. Just be patient - it will happen.
