My 2 yr old daughter is taking off her diaper after she has done #1 and/or #2. Is it time I start potty training her?

What can I do next?

Not necessarily. She could just becoming aware of her bodily functions, which is great, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's ready. I think most go through this phase and it can be rather messy.

Dr Sears does have some really good info on. http://www.askdrsears.com/html/10/t106600.asp

My daughter was completely potty trained by her second birthday. Girls are easier than boys. Sounds like she is ready. My daughter wanted to wear "pretty panties" so we bought some and that was her incentive to use the potty. Worked great! Good luck!

two is a good age to start; however, you need to be committed and ready as well. It takes a lot of patience and time. Plus expect a lot of washing! Good luck.

Yes! Definitely time to get her on the potty. It sounds like she doesn't like it to touch her skin after she has gone in the diaper. My daughter was 16 months when that started happening...she did really well on the potty at first, but regressed (which is normal). I think it was around 6+ months later when we started again. Your daughter might be different and stick with it! Just think..NO MORE DIAPERS!! Yea! :) Good luck!

I'd say so. Once they realize that they don't like to be dirty, it's time.
Go to Dr.Sears website. He has lots of helpful advice.

A., I would definitely go for it! She is very aware of her own body and in her own way, I think she is telling you that she doesn't want to wear diapers after she has soiled them. It will be easier if you will plan to spend several days at home to do this. It is too hard to go out and negotiate public bathrooms. They need to feel comfortable on their own potty before trying one somewhere else. If she balks, you can always put it off for a bit and try again. However, it sure sounds like she is ready to me.

Absolutely! She doesn't like how it feels so she is doing what she can. Give her a better more economical option and let her pick out some fun undies. Prepare yourself before you start though. You'll need some rewards that will intrigue her, a potty, toddler flushable wipes, lots of undies (it's take a little to get the hang of it so expect accidents at first- don't give up or punish- it's just part of the process). Good luck- we just went to underwear Friday (my daughter is 27 months old) and she has done fantastic! What a surprise and relief! Plus she loves the comfy undies. Keep in mind- if after a few days you decide she isn't ready you can always go back to diapers and try again in a few months.
