My son who will be 3 years old in June will not potty train. He will not even sit on the toilet. His cousin who is turning 2 tomorrow is already potty trained. I know every child is different, and we are not pushing the issue, but I would really like to see him potty trained soon. Any thoughts? ( I would like one out of diapers)!!!

What can I do next?

Just to add to Jaime's great advice, I would set a timer for every hour and a half, and check my daughters pants. If her diaper was dry, she got a sticker, plus if she sat on the potty, she got another sticker, and if she actually went potty, it was a sticker and a treat.

Whenever you go potty take him with you. Try to make it fun! You can always use the m&m bribe. lol

You are doing the right thing in not pressing the issue...I'm a mom and Granny...It seems it has to "click" with them, and it will....Keep offering opportunities without pressure...and make sure he isn't being pressured by others.

I'm trying to train my 2 1/2 yr old right now also. A couple of days ago I made him a Potty Sticker Chart to hang on the bathroom wall. If he pees in the potty, he gets one sticker and two if he poops. I'm hoping this will be some incentive. He pooped yesterday in the potty and we put the stickers up, did a potty dance, and called Daddy on the phone. We have yet to pee in the potty though.

Good luck to you and welcome to potty training He11!!

It took my daughter three times... but now she has it down! She turned 3 last November. She can go all night. She picked out her new "big girl underwear". She decided she wanted to be a big girl. I think that is what is making this work, I tried bribes, praise, begging... this time it is coming from inside her that is why I think it is working

I am in the same boat. My son will be 3 in July. He has told me once that he had to "poop". So I took him in the bathroom and he did. We made a huge deal of it and he was so proud of himself. Later he went pee and again, we made the big fuss of how happy we where. However, when he peed he got himself wet. He will not go again because he doesn't want to get wet. He refuses, we don't push, we ask him all the time if he wants to go and the same response "No, I get all wet". He has always gone with us when we go and he has no interest anymore to go. I would LOVE to get rid of the diapers!!!!
