Potty Training 3 Year Old - Las Vegas,NV

My son turned 3 in October and is currently potty trained during the day. It took him a really long time to finally get it! He is still in a pull up at night, and soaks through it! How should I go about the night time potty training? I've tried stopping drinks, going potty before bed, etc, but sometimes he goes so much he soaks through to the bed! With my daughter, she was potty trained at the age of 2 and by 2.5/3 she was always dry at night. It seems to be a lot more challenging with him.

What can I do next?

You just have to wait till he's ready. When he wakes up dry, that's when he's trained. You are already doing what you can. My first son was almost 4 before he was dry at night... my second was dry as soon as he was day potty trained right at 3. My daughter is dry about 1/2 the time and she turned 3 in Nov.

We did a sticker chart for waking dry. She had no problems with naps, but we realized it helped if we stickered for those, too. Four stickers equalled a trip to the park. It took a long time to get the first trip, less to get the second and then we were at the park every other day.

Ditto to GrammaRocks and Jess. My son was almost 4 before he was "night" trained. Take a deep breath and accept that this is one thing that it's on his time schedule -- not yours.

My 4 yr old still wears a pull up at night-some times she is dry, but mostly she isn't. I am not worrying about night time.

Night training is a misnomer and a whole new ballgame, you can't "train" your son to do it, he'll do it when his body is ready. Some children, boys and girls, can't physically stay dry at night for many years due to immature bladders and not waking before it happens (hence the thriving "big kid" overnight pull-up industry) and doctors typically aren't even concerned until a child is at least 6. Each child is different, even within the same family, so try not to compare.

Make his bed up with a large waterproof pad, a bottom sheet, then another waterproof pad and bottom sheet, so if he wakes you during the night you simply strip off the top wet layers and he has a fresh bed to go back to sleep in. Keep having him go potty right before bed, keep a potty chair in his room, and a night light, and encourage him to get up on his own and use the potty if he wakes during the night. He'll get there eventually.

hi, my son potty trained right after his 4th bday. girls and boys = way different. reset your timeline based on boys and give it another year or so.
i've also seen lots of boys who are potty trained during the day but not at night for years. just is what it is. good luck!
