I actually haven't successfully potty trained my little one yet (she's only 1 1/2), however, we are already starting. I received some great advice from a mom who started putting her baby on the potty when she was only a few months old. Now at 10 months, her little girl goes on the potty and almost never in her diaper. She said about 30 minutes after eating/drinking, she noticed that her baby would go potty. You might want to start there. With my little girl, I have a potty for her in two bathrooms. Each morning when she wakes up, we sit on the potty, although I have noticed that she does go potty about 30 minutes after she gets up and after she eats/drinks. We also sit on the potty before we take a bath and/or before bed. Whenever I go potty I make a big deal about it by clapping and saying things like "yeah, mommy went potty on the toilet." Another friend of mine used m&m's as a bribe each time her son went potty on the toilet. You could, of course, use stickers or something you know your son likes. You could post a chart inside the cabinet and put a sticker on it each time he say, sits on the potty, then two stickers or something if/when he goes on the potty. I also heard from someone that they just let it happen naturally with thier children. They didn't pressure them to learn and around 3 years old they were going on the toilet. I personally think it's a good idea to let them know it's there for them to use and constantly remind them. I always say to my little girl "does kylee have to go potty? Let mommy know if kylee has to go potty." I'm sure you'll get much better advice from moms who've successfully potty trained their babies, but hope this helps.
