How do I know when my 19 mo old daughter is ready to train? Its been a while since I have done this, my son is 7 now and wasn't completely potty trained till a little over 3. I've heard girls are easier? Is that true?

What can I do next?

some signs to know if she is ready are... If she wakes up with a dry diaper, if she tells you that she is poopy or wet and asks to be changed, Maybe she will start bring you a diaper. If she starts showing interest in watching you use the potty, you may want to get a potty seat for her to sit on when your going. If she wants to be in private, she may go hide when she goes in her diaper.

She is probable to young yet. This is a good age to get a potty seat and let her start playing w/ it. Ask if she wants to sit on her potty when you go (leave her fully dressed). Let her see what you do, a big clue for me was when my DD wanted to help me wipe. (I didn't let her, but said if she made pee pees in the potty she may have her own paper.) She trained in about 2 weeks, daytime. The most important thing is to let her be in charge.

She will let you know when she's ready. My daughter was closer to 2 and a half before she was ready. I think 19 months is a bit early. Boys are typically longer, both of mine were around 3 and a half before they were completely done. Just take your time, there's no rush. :)

i baby sit a girl who was just as hard as my son to potty train. and she wasn't trained until 2 1/2 years old. to me it wasn't any different than training a boy. she'll let you know when it's time.!!

I just finished potty training my little girl and she is 3. I wish wish wish I had listened when everyone said she will when she is ready. I introduced the potty at about 22 months and we worked off and on with it, never pushing it but we did everything from the potty movie to books to baby dolls to sticker charts. Finally we just told her that 3 year olds don't wear diapers about a month before her birthday and kept talking about how she was going to be such a big girl.

Long story short when she was ready it took less than a week with all of one accident. It has been about a month now and while we have a few accidents a week- mostly at night... it was scary how easy it was. When you child is ready it will come... we stress ourselves out trying to make things happen on our time scale when its theirs we need to be worried about- each child is different... I have heard kids do best at potty training between the ages of 2 1/2 and 3 1/2. Good luck
