I have a hard time to get my 3 year old to tell me if she need to go to the bathroom and she always end up wet herself. She goes when i tell her to go and she dont show no sign if she need to go so she can know when to go on her own (kids that hold her private part when she is in urge to go).. how old does it take a child to know when they need to go without any help???... SHe is wearing underwear in the day and pull up in the night so she wont wet the bed. ANY SUGGESTION TO SHOW HER HOW TO KNOW WHEN HER OWN PEE OR BOBO IS COMING OUT SO SHE CAN GO IN ALONE?

THANK

What can I do next?

Surely she knows, but perhaps she just doesn't care. They are two different things. Have you tried using a sticker chart and reward system?

I would say patience and a positive attitude because it just takes time. Also, I'm a big fan of Gerber cloth training underpants, she'll feel when she starts to wet and keep things less messy. I like to use them when we got out of the house. Good luck!

You could try using a timer. Set it for 30 minutes and when it goes off, she goes on the potty. Then you can make the intervals longer until she is listening to her body's cues. Good luck; potty training is tough!

Honestly it depends on the child and because all children learn and mature a different levels it is hard to say. Maybe try every few hours and tell her to try to go potty even if she doesn't have to and especially after she drinks or eats. You know sometimes even the simplest things you don't learn by your own body, but isn't that a blessing she has such a great Mom to teach her! Many blessings on your journey.
