Just a quick poll... What is your opinion on potty chairs? I have always thought they were a little gross and never had to use one with my first daughter. She pretty much decided she was done with diapers by the age of 2. My now 2 yo can use the potty but she is just way too busy to slow down and go in there. I have to take her each time. So, I am considering the potty chair..maybe if its visible to her she will get the hang of it a little better. Whats your thoughts? Thanks moms

My son liked his potty chair for maybe a week. Fortunately I bought one that doubles as as step stool, so I don't feel like the money was totally wasted. And I agree, they are a little gross, so I was happy when he decided he wanted to use the "big" potty.

After potty training 4, I do not use or like them AT ALL!

Heres my thought:
1. If you train them to use a potty chair wyou will have to re train them to use the toilet.
2. If you are in public or soemone elses house, are you going to bring it with you?

SO what I did was, I bout the toilet seat insert ($6-$12) to se at home and bought one that folds up for outings so my kids always used the big potty. I really like the protable insetrt bc it covers much of the toilet seat..which youknow they ALWAYS up thier hands on to hold themselves up!

I think its just so much easier this way!

My personal opinion is that they are YUCK-E, but know of a couple of people who used them. We used the little seat insert thing (take the pee guard off) and that was gross enough. I've always been of the philosophy that my child should learn to use the big potty and not have him learn some little one and then have to transition him to the big one. I'm sort of lazy/practical that way. We were also lucky in that he a) is pretty tall and b) is not afraid of the big potty. I just put a foot stool in front of it when he was younger/shorter and that worked fine for us.

I agree with you potty chairs are gross. I have 3 boys and they all use the same potty as me. I just let them sit on it until they figure out how to stand and pee...My oldest figured out how to stand and pee quick like 3 months after he was potty trained. just give them a step stool if they are too little to get on alone...

My boys had them but never used them. I just bought it because I remember my grandmother making us use them. For going out, you can get a portable potty seat.

I say what ever they will go on. I know my son was a bit intimidated by the big potty so we did use one and it was nice because when he finally decided to poop in the potty, he went and did it all by himself and then came and got us.

I don't think there is a right or wrong.

I like them but my boys never used them. I second the keeping it in the car to avoid nasty bathrooms, though...

I have one but my son was too big for his. He's big for his age and has just had to use the big potty. I wish he could have used a potty chair so it was a little more visible. He's like your daughter and doesn't want to stop what he's doing to go to the bathroom.

my sn never had a potty chair and he is almist 20 now but my daughter does...she is 2 years old and short and kinda petite> i started training her about 17 months old introducing the potty and talking about it,a nd I knew when she wa sready I would know. I had to start out putting the potty chair in the living room. She was in that room a good part of the day and she would always see it which reminded her to go potty. Gish she did wonderful and we would clap and praise her and as soon as she was done peeing I would take it bowl out and empty it into the potty and was it out good and out it back. We have now moved the potty cahir to the bathroom and she did great, She would go by her self without telling us and she was completely potty trained. She has only pooed in the potty once and now she wants a dipaer every time she needs to poop or she will hold it in which is really bad. It just depends what fits your childs needs better. The potty chair is a great reminder ofr them but if she will use a stool and go on the big potty then I wouldn't do it at all, or maybe jsut do it for a month or so and but put her on the big potty as well sometimes that way when you do move to the big potty she is familiar with it and doesn't get scared...good luck and God bless
