My daughter is now 3 and has been trained for a year now . She has accidents every once in awhile during the day and 2 night. She is the youngest of my three and has a 3 yrs difference between the middle child. It has been a while so I forgot. It also didn't take my other two this long they were both trained before 2 years old. I have no clue what to try.

What can I do next?

if you figure this out, please let me know. none of my kids were night time trained until four to 5. my youngest is about to turn four and still has an accident here and there during the day... and fights me on using the bathroom when i need to her to try... frustrating to say the least. hang in there.. eventually they get it. i've tried letting her sleep in underwear to get away from the pull ups ... but then i'm doing sheets every night. that's exhausting too. not sure what the solution is

i second daughter wasn't trained at night until at least 4 (its been a while and the memory is fuzzy) i eventually used poise adult incontinence pads instead of pull ups. that way she was not as dry and snug, and her bed wasn't totally soaked as it was in just undies.

My daughter is 2 and has been trained for a while. These are some things I do so the the night accidents are few and far between.
I try and make sure the last large drink of water is atleast 45 mins before bed time(though my daughter as half a glass of milk before sleeping).
I run a humidifier in her room to try and reduce night time water drinking.
Take her to pee last thing before bed.
Put her on the potty before I sleep (usually about 3 hrs after she has slept) in her sleep on very cold nights.
Ensure that no matter how tired I am I dont get angry or irritated when she wets or if she wakes me up in the night to use the bathroom (In the latter case I praise her alot the following morning)

After 3 kids and now raising two toddler grandkids, my best advice is to try to protect your mattress and try not to make too much of it. I have found that the bigger deal I made out of the whole potty training issue, the harder it got. None of my kids still wet the bed so they all managed to gain control at some point. I had one potty train before age two and another not until after age 4 so I think that "normal" is a very broad term at this stage of development. I am hoping the 2 and 3 year old grandkids will get it sooner rather than later but for now I am just trying to be patient. Good luck!

My doctor said that "heavy sleepers" will take longer to night train. Like my daughter now 7. May not be the case for you idk? Maybe those cute pull ups pink boxer shorts at night? We also use a plastic mattress protection cover under the sheet. ($30 at Mervyns)
Hang in there!

Hi E., My 3rd took longer too, especially at night. I remember my doctor telling me that there is such a broad range of "normal" for everything related to kids. Some how we all end up in the same place, it just takes some longer to get there. I'd relax about it. We did always take the kids when they were learning to the bathroom when we went to bed, so that may help. Good luck, J.
