my first thought was...are you breastfeeding? if not, test and reassure yourself.

If you are breastfeeding your periods will be a little erratic. It will be shorter, skip a month or two, and be different altogether. Make no mistake breastfeeding is not a birth control, so it is possible you could be pregnant if you are active. I hope this helps!!

if you are breast feeding it can effect your period. i had a scare like that also- my daughter's 10 months now and it seems every time a periods around the corner i think im pregnant :) it also took me a while to get on a regular period schedule and a regular flow after i had my baby. it finally got predictable and "normal" when she was like 4 or 5 months old.

if you are nervous- take a pregnancy test- just incase :)

congrats and enjoy every second with your little one :)

It is normal to have erratic periods after birthing a baby. If you are breastfeeding menstruation is suppressed due to the hormones. If you are not take a pregnancy test just to reassure yourself that you aren't pregnant.
Remember there can be false positives due to residual hormones until four months after your last delivery.

First of all, know that breastfeeding is not birth control!!!! Women who breastfeed can get pregnant almost as easily as women who do not. My sister is living proof. She got pregnant about 8 months after delivering her first son, because she thought breastfeeding was birth control.

Having said that, it is very normal to have shortened periods at odd times right after you have a baby. It's your body readjusting to not being pregnant. The strange periods can continue for up to a year. I always heard, it takes you nine months to make a baby. It takes about nine months for your body to get back to normal.

You can take a version of the birth control pill (a slightly less effective version) while you are breastfeeding. However, if you are uncomfortable with taking an oral pill while breastfeeding, look into other forms of birth control, such as condoms, foams, and IUD's.
