Postive Pediatrician Needed in Costa Mesa/Huntington Bch Area

We are nearing my daighter's 2nd birthday and I have not had her shots for 18 months completed because of the "questionable" safety of the MMR shot. I have 3 other children who received all immuniations available at their appropriate time and both of my boys were later diagnosed with ADHD and the youngest needing RSP classes until the 7th grade (when they no longer allowed the assistance). Of course I am now questioning the immunizations that were given back then and want to have the option to discuss and choose to either opt out or separate the innoculations. I really would like to know if anyone has had a positive experience with their pediatrician and would recommend their doctor. I have had the same pediatrician for years (he was mine when I was a child). He is a little put off when I disagree or question his opinions. I love his care for her and my others but need compassion right now..not confrontation. Thanks so much and I would appreciate assistance not opinions against please.

What can I do next?

Can I hear a WOOO HOOOO! It is such a blessing and brings such relief when I read your 'question' and the responses. You are doing the right thing for your child and stand by it!!! For a list of doctors, if you need more to look at, go to www.tacanow.org to the Resources section. The doctors there all understand what you are talking about and will respect and agree with your decision.

It is not just the MMR shot. It is all of them. You should be doing only one, maybe two at a time, waiting until your child is two (imho) and looking at every shot to understand what it is about and if your child needs it. A great book to start reading about vaccines is The Vaccine Book by Dr. Robert Sears, who is a pediatrician right here in OC.

I stopped all vaccines for my daugther at 18 months when I found out she was severely allergic to eggs. She has not had one since and we have avoided very serious damage. She has all of the gut issues of most severely affected children with autism without the autism (adhd instead). My son has just about everything in the brain going on but autism. I saw the damage being done to him with each shot and was told it was normal.

The AAP recommended schedule of shots for children is too many, too soon. Here are sites and books that I always recommend for people to start their research:

www.909shot.com
www.tacanow.org

Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma, and Allergies: The Groundbreaking Program for the 4-A Disorders, by Dr. Kenneth Bock

The Vaccine Book, by Dr. Robert Sears

What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Childhood Vaccinations, by Dr. Stephanie Cave

Evidence of Harm, by David Kirby

Read Kirby's book if you want to delve into what is happening from an investigative reporters view. Keep up the good work and keep asking questions. When it comes time for school, SIGN A WAIVER. In the state of CA we have three exemptions available: medical, philisophical, religious. I signed all three...

BTW - when we did a blood test, IgG specific, and removed all of the foods that my daughter was reactive to and caused inflammation in her, her eczema and asthma stopped. We've added lots of omega 3, Vit B, and other supplements for both of my kids and their behaviors, ADD/ADHD, everything improved. Remove all dyes, preservatives, go organic and you will see improvements with kids that are on the spectrum with ADD/ADHD.

Any questions on diet, vaccines, whatever, you can contact me.

You might try Dr Aufdemberg. He is in Irvine and will split up your shots. You also have the right to decline shots, if you wish, based on your personal beliefs. You can sign a paper that states that you wish to decline because of your beliefs and then you do not have to do all those shots. The pharmaceutical companies keep adding more and more shots. I do not believe that all of these shots are truly necessary. I'm sure that it has more to do with putting money in pharmaceutical pockets. The good news is that we have the power to say, "no thank you".
Good luck to you.

Dr. Pam Middleton is in your area and truly is the only holistic pediatrician I can recommend. I own a natural parenting store in Fullerton, Belly Sprout, so call us there if you can't find her; ###-###-####.

Dr. Lauren Feder, a homeopathic pediatrician is coming to Belly Sprout on Sept. 19th to do her "Vaccination Safety" workshop and she is PHENOMENAL! I highly recommend her lecture and it will sell out this time around. Please check out our website and swing by the store. Apart from cloth diapers, eco-freindly skincare for baby and eco-beuaty for mom, we have a big list of classes, workshops and events geared around natural living! www.bellysprout.com

Hi J.:

I suggest Dr. Brouwer at Edinger Medical Group. They are in Fountain Valley and HB. The phone # is ###-###-####. Not all the doctors in the group are good at listening about the vaccination concerns as she is -- so only see her. She only works part-time though -- but she is worth it. I am spreading out the shots also for my 20 month old girl. I am waiting on the MMR until she is 2. Dr. Brouwer has been very supportive and she listens to my concerns. She is wonderful.

Dr Laughlin is a family car doctor in Newport Beach by Fashion Island. She has been very supportive of my decision to hold off on the MMR and only give 2 vaccines at a time instead of the usual 4. Good Luck!

Hey J.,
I have heard so many people have negative experiences with their pediatricians because of this topic. Many of the older doctors are not open to listening to the what the newer research holds and are criticizing their patients for not agreeing with them, which is quite unprofessional.
There are doctors out there that support an alternative vaccination schedule as well as those that choose not to vaccinate at all.
I am in the process of choosing and interviewing pediatricians that will support my decision on this very subject, and I have no recommendations yet as I have only met one. However, when I make a decision I would be happy to share who I chose and on what basis.
Also, I am choosing doctors to interview either by recommendation of others (with personal experience) or the Ask Dr. Sears site. This site has a list of alternative vaccination schedule doctors. Here is the link for you:

I agree with the choice of Dr. Brouwer. I cannot say enough positive things about her. Yes, she only works two days each week, but she is well worth the wait.

Good luck!
