Not a mothering question, but a question for all you resourceful people out there! What is the most reasonable way to store posters? Mailing tubes seem so expensive to buy! My daughter has a number of posters that she refuses to part with, and I choose not to add to her anxiety (due to her medical issues and our upcoming move) by making her get rid of her posters.

We're not mailing the posters, so the sturdy tubes designed for mailing aren't necessary (they seem extra heavy, intended for mailing valuable large documents, etc). I'd just like tubes that could store rolled up posters. Is there a better place to locate them? Or do you know of creative ways to store them without folding them?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hadn't thought of the paper towel tubes - good idea but not sturdy enough, I don't think, because of the numbers of posters she has. Don't have wrapping paper tubes, but the suggestion about the wrapping paper storage unit was perfect! Amazon sells one that is a large rectangular unit with dividers, and it holds a lot of wrapping paper rolls (or posters) and it's less than $20! My problem is solved. Thank you! I never would have thought of wrapping paper storage units for posters. So glad I asked!

ETA: You're welcome! Glad I thought of it. lol

What about those containers made to organize wrapping paper? I believe they are long and rectangle and zip closed and have a handle. You could just roll the posters like wrapping paper, put a clip on them and store them in there. It would protect them and keep them all together. At least this is the first thing that's come to mind. Good luck.

Just use wrapping paper tubes, or tape together paper towel tubes.

Wrapping paper tube, should be big enough. If you want something more sturdy (and I would) go to your local news paper and see if you can have a paper core. WAY more sturdy and you can cut it down to the size you want.

Or if you want to store them flat, take a largish box (furniture stores have them) and fold flat. Tape up the bottom flaps together to make a large envelope.

We use old Christmas wrapping paper tubes and have a paper storage tub that goes under the bed. This way the weight of the posters or photos don't squish the ones that are smaller or more fragile.

My daughter's friend taped papertowel tubes together to make it long enough and rolled her poster to put in that. It is not very strong but prevents the poster from being ripped, about $5 or $10. Another friend has one of those puzzle mats, the kind you use to put a jigsaw together but can roll it up so you can work on it later. One of the teachers at school saves her christmas wrapping tubes to store posters.

I just use one of those mailers, I just bought one since you can store several posters all together.
