Post Partum Periods

Hi Ladies!
I am 11 weeks post partum with my third baby and I have had my period once. I got my first period around 6 weeks post partum and haven't had one since. I don't think I'm pregnant since my husband had a vasectomy and the test showed no "swimmers." I was just wondering if anyone experienced this type of thing before?

What can I do next?

It is also possible that your "period" at 6 weeks wasn't really a period but another bout of lochia. I was breastfeeding exclusively and thought I had started getting my periods back already at 6 weeks and was really bummed. The midwife suspected that it was just more lochia. She was right. Still it would be hard not to be paranoid, especially if you are not nursing. I would have to do a test just to be sure....

Hi J.,
I wouldn't worry about it. It can take several months for your body to return to a completely normal schedule, so being irregular isn't too much to be concerned about yet. Those hormones just like to wreak a little havoc with us before settling down. If you are nursing at all, that can throw it off too.

it can take up to a year and a half for your cycle to get back on shedule. Even longer if you are nursing. you seem to be a busy woman, this could also affect your cycles. I wouldn't worry about it for a while, unless you get pms symptoms and no flow.

Hi,
Ditto the other ladies who responded - it could have been PP bleeding that returned at 6 weeks - I've heard lots of women describe that. It can take months for your cycle to regulate itself - so don't be surprised if your periods are a bit sporadic for awhile. Nerve wrecking I know!!!

You may want to try a natural balancing cream. You won't find a better balance of science and nature than the Arbonne Natural Blanacing Creams. PhytoProlief contains black cohosh, chaste tree berry extract, dong quai, evening primrose oil, ginseng, alfalfa extract just to name a few. To learn more visit www.naturesintention.myarbonne.com

I "avoided" my period for almost 5 months both times after giving birth because I was breastfeeding. My OB said this was normal and that it just depends on the woman. With my second baby I did get my period once in the 5 months.
