Hi! It’s clearly been a really long time since you wrote this post, but I’m wondering if you ever got answers to this?
My son quit breastfeeding about 3 months ago. He weened himself and it was a very slow process, but that meant I didn't have to deal with full breasts after he stopped nursing. I didn't notice any problems at all after he quit, except for scabbed nipples. Is this normal? I don't know if it is just the milk glands closing or if it is a problem. I don't have any pain at all, but they certainly don't look good. Thank you for your advice!

It might not be anything but I BF for a little over two years and never developed scabs.
Scabs on nipples is odd and should be checked out at ANY time.
I only remember something like a callouse from nursing. It did go away and the nipples were so. So that is what you might be referring to. If not go get it checked out with your doctor.

I didn't have scabs per se, but I noticed months after nursing that I would occasionally feel my breasts "letdown". Thought it was bizarre. I still occasionally have what looks like dried milk on my nipples. I haven't asked the doctor about it, I assumed it was normal up until a certain point. I don't have the letdown feeling anymore and it's been 10 months since I weaned my son. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Did you try the lanolin cream? I have not heard of this, maybe other moms have. If if the cream doesn't work I would check with your dr.
