Hi,

I am wanting to get pictures done for my daughter's 2nd b-day (where did the time go??? :) and I have taken her to Olan Mills in the past, but would like to try somewhere new. I can't afford to spend a whole lot, but I don't want bad pics either. I have been looking into Sears, target, and Wal-mart studios. Can anyone recommend any places and their experiences? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have a friend who does Portrait parties in Central Ohio. She does an amazing job! It's just like other parties (ie: candles, pampered chef, etc.), you invite others & get a credit for photo orders purchased through your party. It makes for a great play date & cheap portraits for you!

I have always taken my kids to the Target at Polaris. I have always gotten plenty of good pictures to choose from. They tend to do a good job getting the kids to look at the camera. Also, if you look in the paper they have great coupons. $3.99 a sheet or inexpensive packages.

Good Luck!

Hi M.,

I have taken my daughter to Portrait Innovations (they have a website) 2 or 3 times now. They run specials about every 3 months that coincide with various holidays/seasons where you can get a 1 pose package for $10. The package includes a variety of sizes and has proved to be plenty for our christmas cards, etc. You can also do packages with more than 1 pose but they start to add up pretty quickly. They usually have a seasonal backrop/prop room and then a blank canvas room with misc. toy props, etc. The other plus is that you get your pics printed within 20 minutes or so. If you want to get all the shots on a cd, you have to buy 3 poses.

Overall, my experience has been positive. I would call and make an appointment, as with anything like that, if you choose a weekday mid morning or something, they are likely to be less busy and able to give you quality attention. Also, there's an activity table with legos to keep kids busy.

Hope this helps!

hi M.,
mine just turned 3yr old. ugh! after seeing a friend of mine's set of picture from target(brice rd.), i made an appt. they turned out great. and since i, too, am a single mom, they suggested i take a "mom & me" picture with her. i had thrown on something and put my hair in a clip so i wasn't picture ready but i jumped in for a few because i knew i would regret it later. they came out great!!! their packages run from $69 to $199. it took a total of 15 min.

We used to go to Sears, but we were disappointed in both the quality of the portraits and the customer service. We switched to JCPenney 3 years ago, and we love it. We've never been disappointed, and the prices are great. You can print a coupon on their website. It is usually for a $7.99 package or $4.99 sheets.
