I received a postcard regarding a new photography studio - Portrait Innovations in Orland Park. Has anyone has an experience with them? They currently have a $9.95 no sitting fee special which includes over 40 prints. It sounds too good to be true, and I know this is just one pose, and wondering what the cost is if you chose many different poses (It isn't on their website). It sounds very high tech, and you pictures are done in 15 minutes, unlike waiting for 2 weeks if you went to JcPenney's. I am trying to avoid the Christmas Chaos of mall photography studios, yet want a reputable, inexpensive place to get my sons 3 month pics and Christmas photos. Any feedback is appreciated....

What can I do next?

Hi N.-

I just went to the one in Kildeer yesterday for the first time. The pictures turned out GREAT! They really did a nice job. I hadn't been to JCpenney before, but had been to babies r us and flash photo (loved them too, but a little pricey). I do highly recommend them as far as the quality of photos they take. The $9.95 deal is a great deal. Any additional sheets are $15. They do have specials that bring that cost down (of course, if you buy more). Trying to stay within a budget was a little challenging b/c the pix were so great (I also have 2 children that got their pix taken). I will definitely go back...........

I used them and had a great experience BUT- here is my story...I saw the $9.95 price and thought that is such a great deal but what is the gimic? They were awesome- so fun with my daughter- she was laughing the whole time and they took 64 pictures, all different shots, poses, outfits ect. Then once the photo session part is done, they put them all up on a flat screen tv and make them look great. You have to choose just one picture for the $9.95 which was sooooo hard because my daughter looked cute in so many of them! I wanted to bring my husband back to help me decide but they said to get the deal, I had to make up my mind while I was there. So I walked out $158 later with a zillion pictures because I couldn't pick just one. I justified it to myself that this is my first kid so I figure you only do it big like this once right! So bottom line- great place but know ahead of time it will be tough to choose! If you are going just for the Christmas shot that should be easier. Good luck and use will power!

I have used Portrait Innovations multiple times and really like them. If you buy a portrait package, with a minimum of 3 poses (cost: $59.99), you get a cd with all of the images from the session. They shrink the images down, so they aren't useful for much, but if you have Photoshop, you can alter them so you can have reprints done. With each "pose", you get 3 portrait sheets (1 sheet = 8x10, 2 5x7s, 8 wallets, or 4 3.5x5s). The 5 pose collection ($89.99 or $99.99) consists of the 5 poses, but you also get 2 bonus photos which are 10x13 images - they have several things to pick from - cameos, collages, etc. Very nice, espcecially for gifts. In addition, you can also get the $9.95 package in addition to all this. At most studios, if you get the special one pose package, you can't buy anything else (unless you want to pay $20/sheet). The photos are great quality, and you can't beat getting them within the hour (usually 15-20 minutes). They have special holiday backgrounds, plus a huge selection of other backgrounds - and many different props. We have had problems with the camera being out of focus (usually with a new person working) - but overall, have been very pleased. We've been to the Glenview studio at least 5 times now. When I recently called to make our next appointment, they told me they have a holiday special - it is $198 - it is a huge package. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Also - don't forget to take an outfit change! We've had sessions where we were able to have 3-4 changes! On average, we get 70-100 images per session. You can have as many people as you want sit in, with no charge. Good luck!!

I haven't used them, yet, but I've only heard good things from other mama's. It sounds like a great deal and worth at least checking out considering there is no sitting fee. Good luck!

I have used them before and love them. I actually used one in KS before moving up to IL. We have used them when we go back for family visits but are going to use the one in Glenview for the holidays!
I loved them!!! They are digital cameras so they know if they got the shot or they need to do more. They have two people working with you, one taking pics and one entertaining the kids, the studio is very kid friendly and no stress if you have to hang out a little, and you get to see ALL the pics taken, both good and bad. I don't remember the exact costs but I do remember it was a lot less than Picture People.
I say go for it!!

It isn't too good to be true. It really is $10. I've actually gone in there and only spent the $10 too. MY daughters 18 month pictures she just was in a lousy mood and so I only bought one pose and it was so cheap. Last christmas I think I spent $150 but that was like 4 or 5 poses I think. They are great there, good with kids and you have a nice big room to work in. Other than holiday times, the pix are ready in 10-15 minutes. I think xmas I waited about a half hour but it's in a nice strip mall so there was other shopping to do. Good luck.
