Polly Pockets - HELP!

hi Moms,

My 5 yr old loves Polly Pockets and we have managed to accumulate what seems like thousands of them with all the teeny-tiny accessories. My question is does anyone have any solutions on how to store these Pollies and their stuff?

My daughter's playroom is constantly cluttered with Pollies and accessories all over. We are currently just keeping them in large zippered clear bags, but the tiny little shoes and hats and many other tiny things tend to fall into the bottom of the bags where she can't really get to thm...... not to mention how frustrated I get picking up all the little things from the floor and table - any ideas from you highly organized Moms would be soooo appreciated!

Barbie stuff doesn't pose as huge a problem since Barbie's accessories aren't micro-scopic in size ! :-)

What can I do next?

My son was a micro machine nut when he was young.
We used small tackle boxes to separate and store all the tiny cars and star wars micros. In fact at age 18 he still has all of his micro stored away for his children to have one day. (Hopefully years down the road) See the link for an example.

if you live near Plano, IL, Plano molding has an outlet store that they sells there overstock at. Can buy cheaper than at Wal-mart.
He also has some small lunch boxes holding some of his duplicates.

Good Luck,
S.

my daughter is 6 and we too have the polly mess everywhere. i have a few smaller zip-able containers that i put the smaller things in and it is easy to find. the dolls go into another. they actually have polly cases that zip and velcro, with an extendable handle. i got in from target or walmart. they both work wonders. and since i babysit my daughter knows that the little things need to stay in there but she can still pull the dolls out without causing a choking hazard. i haven't had to pick up a single shoe in months and its great. good luck

We too have what seems to be a ton of Polly Pockets. My daughter is really not great about cleaning things up and organizing. I have to keep things simple so that they will at least get picked up off the floor. We just use plastic bins. I know that is similar to bags but the difference is you can search for items easier in a bin. We use two small/medium size bins. One keeps all the clothing and clothing accessories. Then other keeps everything else - the dolls, cars, bikes, animals, etc. This helps keep the Polly Pockets IN the bin and not all dumped out at one time.

I love Polly Pockets because they can store so easily - hardly take up any space and travel easily.

My daughter loves Polly Pockets as well and I found actual Polly Pocket containers to keep them in. I found them at Walmart and Toys R Us. They are the clear, or colored see through, and have different compartments for them. They work great if they actually get back in the containers. They come in different sizes as well. Good luck on keeping those little shoes, etc. together.

If you want to get away from bags, you could try a fisherman's tackle box. They have small compartments to handle the lures and such. You may have to check out one at a sports store for more compartments but Walmart may have one also. Or maybe a Caboodle make-up container?

You can buy Polly Pocket doll storage container at Target for about $10. It is very cute and easy for the kids to carry around. It has room for the dolls and the accessories.

Do you remember Caboodles? The things you had back in the day to organize makeup and hair stuff? That works great! The compartments fold away so you have access to the stuff underneath. And it allows your little one to carry it herself! Highly recommend it! I don't think you can still buy them - not sure. Hopefully you'll have one laying around. :)

An inexpensive tackle box should work. I use them in my classroom for little things that need a place. You could label the compartments and your daughter can put the items away in the right place every time! Tackle boxes come in many different sizes, colors, shapes, etc. I use a clear one so we can see right away what is in the box without even opening it.

I would suggest various craft boxes - Michael's/Target or even a tacklebox like someone suggested.

My three girls went through a Polly CRAZE, too! I put all dolls and larger clothes, along with small items like cars or furniture in a rubbermaid container that is rectangular, nice and deep (approx 10 inches) and the lid has a nice handle. The lid locks on each end (not sure the size, but you should be able to find them at Walmart or Target, etc) with easy to use clips. They loved being able to dump it all out and build their Polly Town, then throw it all back in. For small items like shoes and glasses, etc, I used a little craft box that would fit in the larger box - the kind that would store buttons or eyelets.

Advice you haven't asked for: ENJOY IT! It's over TOO FAST! I rarely see those little dolls scattered all over any more, and I kind of miss them! : (

Many years ago when I went through a cross-stitching phase, I had a clear plastic organizer with little compartments inside to hold all of the different colors of thread. That might work! If you go to google and search on "floss caddy" you'll see what I mean. They're only $3-5, so it would be a cheap fix, even if you have to buy a few of them. Good luck - I'm so glad my daughter had a short-lived "Polly" phase! :)

I'm sorry, I just had to put in my 2 cents. I HATE POLLY POCKETS!!! I was so glad when we were able to get rid of them! What do you do when you can't find the little microscopic pink high heel? No, not that one- the one with the bow on it! And the stupid playsets that go with them always fall apart. TEars, "I can't get it back together!" I am so sorry for all of you still in that stage.
