Hi Mamas,
I know I am late already but thought let me just try: my 6 year old got into pokemon recently because of her DS game. She loves character Chicorita. This is my daydremer who still believes in 'magic' and 'fairytale' and all that. So a while back I got her a chikorita plush from amazon.com, paid 25 bucks for it. I was shocked to see that there are not many pokemon toys, and for the life of me I don't understand why. Was maybe pokemon 'in' years before, and she just got into it too late?
Anyways, i looked online all over to see if I can find chikorita toys and there are barely any. so last night she wrote a letter to Easter bunny and sure enough she was begging him for more chikorita toys. I spent 5 hours today driving to wal marts, targets, toys r us and found one pokemon ball and one chikorita figurine. nothing else. have your kids ever been into pokemon? was it years ago? any ideas why carries these toys that don't cost a kidney and a liver?
thanks
L.

I totally know what you mean. My daughter is STILL nuts for Pokemon. She has taught herself how to draw them even. She never got into the cards but the movies and toys, watch out. I f she could, she would own every one. I don't understand why they do not distribute the toys like they used to since they are still making new games. Walmart used to have a wall full of them. Now they barely have a 3 ft section. My d subscribed to a mag (or I did for her) and they changed it last year making it more about other games also with more Bakugan and YuGIOh than Pokemon. She is not happy about that . You might try looking on Craigslist for Pokemon in the toy section or babies and kids. They sometimes have some that someone is not trying to make a huge buck off of-just grew out of and getting rid of them.

Okay this doesn't help at all, but when my baby brother was into Pokemon, he used to drive my mother INSANE going 'poke-your-MOM' and used to follow her around jabbing her butt with his finger, LOL!!

Hope the Easter Bunny pulls through! ;)

geez, I remember the pokemon days!!! I think we did 3 of the movies? Enough to drive me bonkers! Pikachu was the one to have for one daughter, the other liked mew2 I think it was. It was years ago, at least 8, that my kids were into this, at least when the fascination ended. What happened to loony tunes & the other now "retro" cartoons?

Anything that has to do with Pokemon gets my son excited. He is almost 7 years old and has been into it for over a year. He gets most of the toys at Target and Toys R Us. He has gotten books and I even crochet him some toys (found a great blog with patterns). Try Toys R us or Target. I know they have little plush animals at Target. I don't think I've seen Chikorita but it might come in a 3 pack. Oh also I saw at Target that they have a Pokemon shirt in the boy's department. I was going to get it for my son for his birthday.

I'm with ya! I don't get it either! Pokemon first came out about 10yrs ago and never really went away, but the toys sure did! My son really really wanted Pokemon sheets when we redid his room and I had to buy used ones from Ebay for $25! Maybe we need to start sending emails to the company!

Pokemon is a very complex game. There are 5 regions and each region has many characters, and these characters evolve. There are so many different characters that it would be impossible for the stores to carry them all. My son is totally into Pokemon and we have some stuffed toys that we bought at Target, but they only have about 5 or so different types.
My son likes the books and the DS games. We often do Pokemon pretend play; he is a baby pokemon that just hatched from a Pokemon egg and I'm his trainer. He loves to play that game and all kinds of variations of it.
He also loves the books. There are all different types of Pokemon books and Magazines.

Haha, I was into Pokemon when I was little! (I'm 20 now). It came out sometime in the 90's, then faded, and recently it's been becoming more and more popular. My 17 year old sister still likes Pokemon games :) I don't know who would have toys exactly. You can try looking online at game stores (Gamestop, EB).

I have very fond memories of Pokemon. Especially the cards, which my kids collected. All three of them were into them, and I remember trips to the mall to buy cards for special occasions. I would sometimes reward them with Pokemon cards. We also watched the show a lot.

Can't tell you where to get things, just reminiscing.

I'm with the mom who said Toys R Us and Target. She might also enjoy Pokemon cards which they sell at WalMart as well. Also, if she likes books the Scholastic book orders have at least one in there almost every time.
There is a new Polemon series that started on cartoon network not too long ago. I think it is a new "region" or something that goes along with the newer DS game. I think it stays popular with the kids because they keep the old characters and then create new ones in new places.
Between my own kids and then nieces and nephews I have seen lots of Pokemon!
Good luck!
