TAX RETURN SEASON! YAY! Well my son broke my camera last month and I'm in the market for a new one. Any suggestions?? Not to expensive but for quality I'll go expensive.

So What Happened?

Thanks Mamas! I am in fact getting a refund. . . I'm not sure what your post was about. . . but I like getting refunds. It's like I won money. The amount they take out each check was very little (I only get $8 an hour. Still in school and all that) Thanks though!

I second the Canon Power Shot SX30 IS! I love it, got it a few months ago and can't put it down. It takes great shots, 14 MP's, HD Video and 35x optical zoom. Pix are super easy to download and the quality is that of the more expensive cameras.

LOVE my Nikon coolpix. Also, if you are getting a refund, you just gave the Government a loan with 0% interest. You need to adjust your withholding so you don't get money back but keep more money in your pay check.

I love Canon cameras. There's a site that you might find helpful: www.epinions.com. It's a great site for reviews about pretty much everything.

Good luck!

I've always had good luck with my Nikon Coolpix. This is my second one (lost the first one), my dad has had three (he likes to upgrade), and my sister has one. Very easy to use and reasonably priced.

I also have a Canon Powershot - over all I love the quality of Canon cameras.

I love my Canon Powershot Digital Elph. Mine's an SD1300 IS, but I think they have higher models out now. It takes beautiful pictures and is very straightforward to use.

Since you said your camera was broken by your son, my first suggestion would be to look at the line of Olympus Tough cameras. We have one of the early ones and absolutely LOVE it! They range between $180 and $300 depending on which one you get. It takes good pictures and video and truly is a tough camera. It's waterproof, freezeproof, dust proof, crush proof up to something like 220 pounds, and can safely be dropped from about 5 feet. The only thing I can't confirm 100% is being crushed. However everything else is true! We have used ours on waterslides, in the ocean, in a pool, and in lakes and it takes quality pictures. It has been used in the snow for sledding, skiing, and just plain playing. It got dropped, about 4 feet, right onto concrete and didn't have any issues - we took pictures right away afterward. We love it and have no qualms about letting our 5 year old use it as well. Good luck and just be sure to research before buying.

We have an old Olympus that we liked but I bought in in 2003 and it's no longer made. It was a little slow.

My "new" camera I got 2 years ago, a Canon Powershot. I bought it because friends loved theirs. I'd get another one when this one dies, but I'd get the flip screen so I can view myself. :) Takes decent video and various kinds of pictures. If you're just an "auto" person, it does that pretty well, too.
