I am in the market to buy a simple (but good quality) point and shoot camera. I'd like it to have video capability. Can you recommend anything? I'd like it to cost $200 or less.

I love my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH5. I think they go for around $100 on Amazon right now. It is small, lightweight, has a rechargeable battery and has lots of settings to play with, including video. It also has a "smart" setting, if you don't want to fool around with all the other settings. It takes great photos!

There are several point n shoot Nikkons on sale, but this one has the highest rating for the price.

Samsung makes good camera so does Nikon and Canon. I've had a number of them over the past few years. The only reason I've needed to get new ones is I drop them too many times and their little computers don't function well after 10 - 20 drops on asphalt or concrete. ;o) (And I almost always use the wrist strap - I'm just getting clumsy as the years go by!)
I've found that when a manufacturer is introducing a new model the "obsolete" model goes on sale. that seems to be a time to get great buys. check prices and reviews online. THe technology improves dramatically every couple of years and they get more compact with more features. They all seem to have video capability. As i get older the big thing for me is to be able to see the tiny buttons - a big screen is a plus too. ;o)

I love my Canon PowerShot Digital Elph. It takes great pictures and fits in a pocket.

Mine is a couple of years old, so I'm sure there is a newer model with more megapixals than I have, but it's awesome.

just last week i went to best buy to get a digital camera.. im pregnant and my fiance wanted to make sure we have pics of every step of the way and of the new baby, cellphone pics just arent cutting it we both have pretty crappy phones.. however we are basically broke so we really couldnt afford any kind of really nice camera.. i got a 50$ vivtar camera its cute and its red and the screen flips out so u can take pictures of yourself and see the screen while u take them its pretty cool.. oh and it takes really good pictures and also has an option to take short videos .. i was actually surprised i figured with it being so cheap it would be kind of junky but its not it came with the wire and the software to put all the pics on the computer, only thing u needed to buy was the memory card which was only 15$ .. theres really no need to spend 200$.. they also had some really nice ones in the 80-120$ range

I love my Olympus. I got it for $99 on sale at office max a couple years ago. It's tiny but has much better zoom 7x instead of the typical 3x
