Good Morning, I am back with another request. I don't think I am the only one going through this, but I need advise. You see I get really crabby, upset, frustrated, start to cry for anything when I am close to start my period. And I can't stand it no more. I need some advise. Is there anything that you do to help some of those feelings? I have an almost three year old baby girl and my wonderful husband and they are the ones that suffer the most when mommy is PMS. And I don't like it, I get mad for anything they do or say. Especially the hubby and I know this is not right. Is there anything that I can take, a tea for example to help me calm down and not feel this way. I know that PMS is something that everyone deals with, but I think mine is to the extreme. I want help, advise anything that can make me be a great mommy and wife every day. And not turn into the PMS MONSTER! When I am about to start. Please someone give me advise and no harsh comments! Thank you for taking your time to read my post!

You're not alone. What I thought was PMS was diagnosed as PMDD, and I can't tell you how much my GYN has helped my understand it! I truly would be on the edge! By edge, I mean, ready to walk out my front door, and never come back. The other 3 weeks of my life were great. I had fun with my kids, and loved my husband, but those 5 days of hell were taking a toll on my life. I am not a med taker... I rarely take an Advil unless I'm in tons of pain. My GYN decided I should try an anti-depressant only that week before my period. I agreed, and it has changed my life. I only take it for 7 days a month, and I have never experienced any kind of withdraw effects once I stop taking them. I think I'm on a really old med that has been around for a while, but I have the generic (fluoxetine). And it's the lowest dose at 20mg. My husband urged me not to take meds because he didn't want me to be numb to my emotions. But once I started this he was so thankful, and understands that I did need some help. You don't want your family to suffer, and they simply cannot understand completely. No harsh comments here. I find every day that I am so much like a lot of other women, that just want help! Good luck!

No, you are not alone. I do get like that sometimes, and when I see it coming I pause myself and bring me back to the reality that those days of the month are coming and it's not my children, nor my husband; take a deep breath, sometimes I just walk away and give me some time. If you are as severe as you think though, I would suggest you go see your gyn and see if there is anything over the counter that you can take; maybe you can just call the office and see if they can tell you over the phone. But I think it would be better for you to go so they can do some blood work as well and make sure that everything is okay.
Don't get so worked up, breath, relax, walk away, and remind yourself that you are going through some stuff and this too shall pass.
Best wishes.

Mine got so bad, I HAD to get on some mild anti depressants.. This is just me, but gosh, it made a huge difference. You would have to take them everyday.

I am sure you will get lots of suggestions for natural options and I encourage you to try them first, they just did not work for me..

Go to your ob gyn. Get a low dose estrogen patch that you will put on when you feel PMS symptoms. I use a patch called Vivelle for maybe 3 days a month. Solved my problems and I had ZERO side effects from the patch.

I've never heard about taking anti depressants for a week at a time for PMS but obviously women are having success which is great. The more options, the better!
Personally, I would try the estrogen patch first. I was a pharmaceutical rep for 12 years and sold antidepressants....they are great but rarely without side effects which typically are transient if you take them every day continuously, and then they usually disappear after time. May be a different ball game if you take them for a week and then stop for 3 weeks.
You may have the side effects for the entire week each time you restart them up.

Your estrogen levels drop prior to your period and thats why symptoms flare at that time. A low dose patch will give you higher hormone levels and "even you out" if you will.

I use mine along with my IUD so I think it's safe to use with other birth control but your doc will know.

I used this to help with PMS migraines and it worked!!

It's call PMDD, premenstrual disformic disorder(I think). I go through the same thing. I take fluoxetene for 7 days before my period. Don't try to tough it out. Your family won't remember you're pms-ing, they'll only remember how crazy you acted! - My family still jokes about the time I cried when my hamburger had too much mustard!
Good luck

I agree with a lot of the PPs. Talk to your ob/gyn and see about a mild antidepressant that you can take a week or two before your period. I did and it makes a HUGE difference. There is no need to suffer like this. I felt the same way you did with PMS. I used to get really angry and snap for no reason. That's not me. And it's not me anymore! Good luck!

I can totally relate.....I don't have any miracles however I have learned that if you are feeling any feeling.....sit and feel the feeling....sit and feel mad.....sit and feel sad...cry....and it's amazing in less then five minutes the feeling passes and you will feel better...

First, make sure there are no loaded guns in the house, If I had had one back then, my first ex-husband would have the first one who would have been shot! It was terrible. Hormone imbalance is probably the culprit. I don't recall any special teas or herbs that would have made a difference. If you are lucky enough to have a caring husband, then discuss this with him. If you have a good OB/GYN then discuss this with HER. Men, even doctors, really have no concept of what PMS/PTSD entails. After a hysterectomy I actually had a doctor tell me that hot flashes and night sweats were a figment of my imagination. A man, of course. Not every woman goes through this monthly plight but for those of who do, even the ones it just a past unpleasant memory, it is very real and can be devistating. Heating pads help with cramps, pleasent surroundings can sooth the mood swings. Please try to keep as natural as you can and don't resort to mood altering medications to "get through it" Find some other wommen who are going through the same thing and talk about it. You are not alone. Hugs from someone who has "been there"

You are not alone, No one understands unless they have been through it. I did get some relief with hormone cream. Actually, its funny, but i started using Arbonnes hormone cream and i started bragging to all my friends about it and then started doing Arbonne as a business... Sounds crazy but i guess PMS can help you sometimes, I quit my realestate job and just do that now...What a story.... This is not a sales pitch you can buy it from anyone that sales Arbonne or you can get it from my website.. either way JUST GET IT... lisawuselton.myarbonne.com good luck ...
