J.M.
That's me on the first two days of my period. It's crazy. It's like I can't even see straight I'm so tired. Glad I'm not alone.
I don't do anything for it but push through. Sorry, and good luck getting a more satisfying answer.
I am so tired a few days prior to my period. Not just a little tired - Exhausted, even though I get enough sleep and eat well. I am soooooo tired, I can barely make it through the day. I have talked to the doctor about this and I don't think he really understands the extent of the fatique I experience. I do not have iron deficiency anemia but I do take B12 injections for B12 deficiency, but with the injections my B12 levels are normal.
My question, anyone else experience this and if so what do you do about it?

I get that way too. Exercise regularly, before your period but not on days 1 and 2 or whatever your heavy days are. Eat extra protein before and during the first few days of your period. This has worked for me. Your body, anemic or not, knows it is about to lose a lot of blood soon, so you need to eat blood building foods like chicken noodle soup, spinach, cook your foods for easier digestion. I got this advice from a Chinese medicine book and it has helped me a lot.
I am interested to see what you get for answers because I get the same type of fatigue and the day before I start is the absolute worst.
Have your thyroid tested.
I could have written this post except that I am mildly anemic (it doesn't usually bother me too much). It will be interesting to see if anyone has any advice. Thanks for posting this question!
This is not specific to pms but fatigue in general, complements of Dr. Oz:
1.Try D-Ribose: This low-calorie and sugar-like substance, which can be taken in pill or powder form, can give your body a boost of energy.
2.Take a Multivitamin: A multivitamin will counter-effect the sleepy and lethargic feeling you get after eating a heavy meal.
3.Get a Lemon Lift: Smell a slice of lemon or rub lemon oil on your skin to awaken the senses.
4.Loose the Snooze: Set the alarm for the time you need to get up - and then get up! Hitting the snooze button doesn't provide you with any restorative sleep.
Feel better soon!
So all of us are experiencing the same thing and the doctor is not really treating the issue. My doctor told something basic, like your probably tired. But it's more to it. I sleep and sleep until I feel better. I just started a yoga class, it helps with my cramps. I heard about taking b12 and folic acid vitamins. Anyone find a solutions please let me know. I need to do more research.
Ahh yes! I am feeling that right now (should be getting it tomorrow actually...although we are TTC so hopefully not!). I am honest to goodness done for the week prior to my period. I have done the vitamin thing too, to no avail. I hope you get some good advice!
I am reading all of your responses becuase I got it too. all I am reading is everyone else gots it and no one knows how to handle it. hmmm my only guess unless you get a answer is sleep :)
Just so you know your not alone in your misery. I too experience this. I have brought it up to my doctor as well and didnt get any help.
I cant even put words to how exhausted I am for about 2-3 days before. I am easily wanting to go to bed by 6pm if not earlier.
I will watch for the posts and see what you get. Your not alone!
