We call this truth week! You know how a drunk man says what a sober man thinks? A woman with pms will tell you all the things that you've done wrong all month but never complained about.
Since I've had kids my period has been wonderful. No more cramps, just much heavier. The only bad thing is my mood swings (the week prior to having my period), they're aweful. I've tried working out, and that barely helped. My husband, being honest, said I was like this before, but now I notice it because I've been short with my kids. Normally if I feel stressed or overwhelmed I take a few drops of Bach's Rescue Remedy and I feel 100% better (a natural product). This doesn't work the week before my period either.
What do you do to keep your cool, stay calm, not let the mood swings take over??? Oh, should I mention that I don't want to eat a ton of chocolate? :) Thanks in advance.

What you do the entire month will affect the week before your period. Limit sugars, flour, caffeine and alcohol. Also, a good whole food multi vitamin, B Complex and cal/mag/vitamin D supplement will help.
I just always prepared the family that I was about to PMS and not to take it personal, and then just let it rip. Everyone learned to not bug me too much for a week.
Herbs can be wonderful for PMDD. Sounds like that could be your problem. It's more severe than just PMS. I take a natural anti-stress/anti-anxiety formula that helps me. If you want to know more, ask. I don't want to push, but I swear by the stuff! No side-effects either. LOVE it!

are you on birth control??? That has alot to do with moods. I use to take birth control and i had tried different ones and everyone i take my moods are bad and soem make them worse. I advise getting off that will help other than that if you not on any you need to find a way to off set the mood when ity comes and breath through everything. Mybe try and get massages those weeks your moods are high.
Hi N.,
You could be low in vitamin D and/or magnesium.
Good luck,

oh my goodness.....I had a counseling session about this SAME exact thing today! And the Bach's rescue remedy is amazing, they also make gummies of it for on the go.....they stay in my purse at all times! So, during your PMS time you should get your hormone levels checked. If your body is low on progesterone or estrogen it can cause serious freakouts! My couselor said she had a friend who actually became suicidal during her PMS week.....ouch! Mine is nowhere near that bad but the slightest thing can set me off, and ruin my day. My doctor started me on progesterone tablets, one every other day during my pms week. The results have been AMAZING! I can actually feel normal before my period, instead of freaking out because there was a little mud on the floor! Good luck!
Take magnesium every day. Or take it when the PMS starts, within half an hour it will be gone. My doc told me about it years ago.
I swim and run and I hate to run...but it clears my head and helps with weight loss. I also try to anticipate when those days are coming and I try to get a little ahead on the housework and stuff, so I can take a lazy day or two and sleep more and vegetate.
My mood swings are awful also.
i have the exact same thing, except mine is the week after. my dr. put me on xanax .25mg and it works wonders!!! i take it when i feel my blood start to boil, and then it just takes the edge off just enough. hope you find something that works for you!!!!!!!
