My current GP is in Rowlett, but I live in Lewisville. When I moved to TX years ago, I just decided to go to the same GP as my mom b/c she liked the facility. Well, now that I have a young daughter (6m), I'd like to find someone closer to Lewisville. I also feel like the Dr. doesn't really listen to me and just gives me some "sample medicine" and says bye-bye. I'm dealing with a lot of anxiety and my medicine/visits to the Dr. seem to increase that anxiety and not ease it at all.
I hope someone has a GP who isn't like the above Dr./Office. I'm hardly ever sick, but since I had my daughter, my anxiety level is very high and I don't like how it makes me feel. I just want a GP who will listen and help me.
I have to find someone who takes my insurance too, but I can call and check that. I have BCBS HMO and sometimes it's tricky to find someone taking the HMO plan. I would love to hear any recommendations and it would just be for me. My husband sees someone in Denton.

I live in Highland Village very close to Flower Mound and I couldn't help but respond to you. I unfortunately don't have a recommendation for you, but I also am dealing with this very same issue! I have two daughters age 10 and 7 and I have been dealing with extreme anxiety lately. Going to the doctor has only made it worse and now I don't want to go back. When I went to the doctor my heartrate was so high that she ordered an echocardiagram! I kept telling her that I am anxious and she just wouldn't listen... she gave me some medicine, but I am too scared to take it. I just thought you might want to talk. I have asked all my friends for doc recommendations, but they all drive far away and I don't want to do that. I can relate to what you're going through.

His name is Paul Meggs and he is at Trinity Medical Center in Carrollton off of Hebron & Josey. I LOVE HIM - I have been going to him for about 7 years and he has always kept the same staff so I am really comfortable there - he is awesome and I would recommend him to anyone for sure!

I have a doctor who has 2 offices - one in Highland Village off 407 and the other in Lake Dallas (just off 35 past the Lake Lewisville bridge).
His name is Dr. Soan - - I love him and while there are several other doctors in the practice, I always make my appointment with him. He is patient, listens well, doesn't over medicate, yet is happy to provide samples so you can try something, good about prescibing things that are on insurance, etc, etc, etc.
Unfortunately I live in Frisco now, and it's just too far.

I know everyone is recommending different doctors so you have a lot to choose from, but if you want a doctor that really cares, go see Dr. Jack Johnson. He is one of the few doctors that still show empathy. I went to see him for the first time in three years and he still remembered my husband's name. When I left he said to say hi to Leo for me. And the nurses are wonderful also. He practices just outside of the Medical Center of Lewisville.

If you're really hyperthyroid, you may do better seeing an endocrinologist and the treatment is often more than just a prescription and isn't something a doctor would just call in a prescription for, so that may be why you got the response you did from your current PCP. Your problems may be far more complex than they feel comfortable handling and they may just hope you go away. I've had this experience before as I have a very complex thyroid/adrenal problem. They can't deny you treatment, but they can make you not want to seek treatment with them and in most cases, you are far better off going somewhere else.

It does look like most of the patient recommendations are for hypothyroid treatment, but if you are hyperthyroid, the treatment often results in your being hypothyroid.
If you have a crazy schedule you may like Trinity West Urgent Care in Lewisville. It is located right down the street from the Supertarget. They are open 8am-8pm 7 days a week. They are a family practice/urgent care clinic that can handle both minor emergencies and routine care. Both MD's are board certified in Family Practice. You do not have to have an appointment to be seen and they take most insurances. They are also great on the weekends in case your child is ill. I should mention that my husband in one of the MD's and can fully relate to the anxiety of having children since we are expecting our third child in July and also have a 3 1/2 yo and a 2 yo. She's an internal medicine doctor, but is very smart and can treat you for just about anything- my friend see's her for anxiety, which you mentioned you have in your request. I love Diana! She will sit and listen. You never feel like you are being pushed through like cattle. She tries to make sure you have all the samples you need to make sure the medications work prior to paying the pharmacy.
