I am 8 weeks pregnant with my fourth child. You would think by now I would have it all figured out, but like they say, every pregnancy is different. Anyway...I had morning sickness with my other three, but this one is driving me nuts! I feel nausous ALL day long. Nothing tastes good to me, but I am constantly starving. I end up making myself eat anything and have to force myself to get half a meal down. I don't actually throw up very often at all, but I just constantly feel like I'm going to. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!
Well, at 14 weeks, I think I am past the worst of it. Thank goodness!:) I still feel yucky every now and then, but it's not nearly as bad as it was in the beginning. At least now it doesn't last all day. What I have found to work the best is just to eat pretty much nonstop. As long as I don't let my stomach get too empty, I seem to feel OK. Thank you all so much for all of your advice! It is so nice to have this community of moms to talk to.

I am also pregnant, just a little bit farther along than you are. I,too, feel sick throughout the day and really don't want to eat anything. What has helped me is to eat small snacks throughout the day, even though I might not want to. If I get hungry, my nausea is a lot worse. Because I have to take care of my baby and dogs first in the morning, I normally grab a cereal bar and then later have a good breakfast. I, also, bought some pre-sliced apples (I said I would never do that, but it helps since I don't feel well and have a baby that takes all my time) so I can snack whenever I need to.
Recently, I tried making a fried egg for breakfast. I don't know if it's the protein, but I feel better after eating the egg than I did after having cereal.
I hope this helps! Hang in there!

C., My first pregnancy was like that. Mine lasted the whole first trimester. I got through mine by pretty much only eating peppermints, saltine crackers, dry cereal, and pasta noodles. I ate just pasta, no sauce. I'd use a little butter for flavor or sometimes I'd put shredded cheese on for taste - neither have a really strong smell. If you can handle milk and OJ (with Calcium) that's good too. Sprite helped sometimes, but not much. The peppermint helped a lot (and it's kind of cheap to buy). Even now, 3 years after my first child, I use peppermint for car sickness.

Hi I am sorry you aren't feeling well but you can buy Preggy Pops they are good for nausea they come in different flavors or you DR can prescribe you phenegran or zofran. phenegran is cheaper but it didn;t work very well for me but I was pretty sick so the phenegran may work if the pops don't

I was like that with my second pregnancy, nauseated from 11 am and 9 pm. What worked for me was keeping something on my stomach at all times, even if it was just some light crackers and/or some fruit. Yes, I had to force myself, but when I did, I felt so much better. Also, drinking La Croix carbonated water helped a great deal; I liked the lemon flavored water the best. There is no sugar in these waters, so no empty calories. Good luck!

Hi C.,
Try eating a small banana. Bananas are supposed to help with nausea. You can try sipping a little room temperature ginger ale. You can also talk to your doctor about getting a prescription.

This happened to me. What worked for me was to eat a piece of bread immediately upon waking up. Not having a empty stomach helps. Also had saltines with me 24/7 and everytime I felt nausea I ate one and it helped. Also ginger ale, ginger ale, ginger ale. This helpe me. Good luck

Hey! I was nausous all day long, as well! Finally after 5 months, I went to see my friend in the hospital after having her second child, and the doc was in there when I got there!! Luckily! She said to open an alchol pad...and smell it, and it would take the nausea away. I TRIED IT!! IT WORKED FOR ME!! No more nausea for the rest of pregnancy! I just made sure to have them with me at all times!
Hope this helps!

This very thing happened to me but it was on my 5th and final child my youngest was 6 and surprize now I was extreamly ill with my girls and I noticed that with every pregnancy I got sicker however I don't mean to scare you but at 12 weeks along with my 5th preg. I fell and went to the hospital due to some pain and to my unprepared surprize the doctor came into my room and told me (at age 30) that I was pregnant with twins!!!! O M G are you kidding me, denial big time. With twins you have double the hormones which in turn means more sickness and I was more sick then I had ever been I mean violently ill! Now this may not be the case for you but it is something to ponder over if you haven't gotten a sono yet cause your chance of twins increase in your 30's. Now for the nausia try gome ginger supplements you can get them at any place that sells vitiamns also a trick that I learned is find out what it is that you can tolerate to eat and just eat that. I ate icecream ALL the time. My sister however ate pizza ONLY for her intire pregnancy it was the only thing she could hold down. Maybe having some crackers of your choice by the bed before you even lift your head off of the pillow nibble a bit. They also have supplement drinks for pregnant women like ensure and you can sip that slowly. Your in the first tri. so this should be the worst of it I hope for your sake cause I totally understand! But last but not least ask your OB for something for the nausia they have a few different kinds of anti-nausia meds out there and also they have suppositories (spell?) in case you can't hold the pills down. Good luck and congrats!!!

Hi. I was sick my entire pregnacy. Prescription drugs didnt even give me any relief. The best things I found to work (and everyone is different) is citrus. Try anything citrus such as lemon, lime or orange flavors. They actually make a candy called preggie pops & preggie drops that are little candies and suckers in those flavors. You can most likely find them at a maternity clothing store. Unfortunatly I didnt find out about these until my 8th month.
Something else that worked very well for me were grapes (purple not green). They are still available in seedless but are sweeter than the green. Had it not been for the grapes I dont think I would have survived the first trimester.

Both my pregnancies were like that, however, for very different reasons. With my first child, we discovered that it was a lack of protien in my diet. I know that this sounds totally discusting, but smoked oysters really did the trick. But with my second daughter, even though I had TOTALLY quit smoking (cold turkey might I add), I was still surrounded by smokers and reacting adversly. If this is the case in your situation, then you need to become the smoke nazi! I would make my husband take his uniform off on the patio, throw it in the washer, then he had to take a shower and brush his teeth before seeing me at the end of the day. I know that sounds extreme, but it sure did help. My friends all took to the "new" me with great ease, and all washed hands and even kept perfume in their purses as to keep me from feeling sick around them. Good luck, and congrats on #4!

When I was pregnant, both times, I had that constant "yucky" feeling. I never actually GOT sick, but constantly felt like I could. I used those arm bands that hit a pressure point on your arms (at wrists) that are supposed to be for motion sickness, but are also known to help nausea realted to pregnancy. They seemed to help a little. It might be worth a try. You can buy them at store that have a lot of travel stuff, like Mori Luggage and gifts I believe.

I was the same way with all 3 of mine. My dr said to take vitamin b6 twice a day and with the nightime dose take a half of a unisom. I've also heard that getting those motion sick bracelets from the drug store help too. It was so bad with one of my kids that the dr had to prescribe phenergan but maybe the other stuff will ease it. Hope this helps and hope it stops soon:) good luck!!

I just had my fourth child and I was the same way, at least through the first 6 months, then again the last month. As you said every pregnancy is different. I ended up drinking a lot of ginger ale, and eating barrels of saltines. This seemed to help a little anyway. Also, you might try not eating first thing, as soon as you get up. I felt a lot better once I learned to eat later in the day. And, don't force yourself to eat a whole lot at once. Just knitpick throughout the day and then eat a good dinner (if you can). All else fails, let the doctor know what's happening so they can help. Good luck!

I am 29, stay at home mom and also pregnant. I am going into my 5th month with my 2nd and last child. This pregnancy is completely different the sickness has been awful. With my first child I was able to use sea bands and that worked wonders. Not this time though. The only thing that has helped is to SIP not drink Gingerale and eat ice from Zaxbys or Sonic. Zaxby's in Adairsville and Cartersville will give me a bag of ice for free. I am not sure about your area. My pharmacist also says there are creams that you can rub into your writsts and meds that will not knock you out but will stop the sickness also. These are all prescription drugs though, the ice and gingerale worked for me. Feel free to email ____@____.com

I am not sure if your prenatal vitamins are contributing, but I was VERY nauseous with this pregnancy too (due in April), had it with my first child 7 1/2 years ago, but not to this degree. Anyway, I talked to the Dr. about it & he said I could take my regular Women's One A Day vitamin or even Flinstones vitamins in their place to help. (Still had the nauseau, but at least I wasn't throwing up as a given right after taking the vitamins.) About a month ago my nausea has gotten MUCH better & I was able to switch back to the prenatals again. (Oh, and I was constantly making potato soup (I know. . .sounds weird), but it helped calm my stomach and was the only thing I really wanted). Hang in there!! Best of luck to you!!

C., you sound like you're going through what my mom went through with her last. My baby sister was her fourth and she was 36. She had constant nausea all through her pregnancy and the only way she could do anything was to be constantly putting something in her mouth. I'm sure that you won't have difficulty all the way through your pregnancy. My mom was five years older and hadn't had a baby for eight years. My sister was a bit of a surprise! Anyway, I don't know if eating makes you feel better or not, but as long as my mom had something in her she was okay. She couldn't eat large amounts of food either. That would make her feel sick too. She just snacked all day long. I hope you feel better honey.

I was never sick when I was pregnant with either of my children but I did have a friend that swore by pickle juice. She said it was the only thing that helped her nausea. She would just stick a straw in the pickle jar and sip the pickle juice. I hope you find something that works. I have also heard lemons are good.

that was me when I was prego with my daughter the only thing I could eat for months was spagitti Os they actually helped me feel better. Thats exactly how I was , nausus all day long but didnt actualyl throw up very often. try eating some crackers before you get out of bed in the morning , my dr told me I couldnt have dramamine so talk to your dr before you do that. also the ginger tea. I kept a bag of peperments with me all the time sucking on them helped and I still have horriable motion sickness now ever since that pregnancy and sucking on Ginger altoids does good for that still. ummmm also like sprite and ginger ale. Orange juice would make me sick but simple tomato based stuff like the spagitti Os ( not really much spices in them) helped the most. sounds weird I know but thats what did it. oh and salt and vinegar potato chips couldnt get enough of um.
I bet baby is a girl hehe

My fav- you find it at any natural food/herb store is a homeopathic melt in your melt tablet called "nuxvomica" works fantastic!! Also eating ginger, things with ginger in it or a ginger vitamin tab like "ginger trips" can really help. If you are taking prenatals the cheaper ones can really upset your tummy and thus a lot of women stop taking them- do you and you babe a fanor and get some really good ones like "rainbow light" brand prenatals... A really good prenatal can make a HUGE difference! Also mint is good for nausea
Also since we are on the subject of good for you in pregnancy stuff- you should also be taking "liquid chloraphy" add a little to every to every drink- comes in two flavors- no flabor- which is kinda alphala tasting and mint. Taking this throughout pregnancy will help you to have a shorter bleeding time and can help ward off hemorage after birth. It is VERY good for you!
Hope that helps and that you start to feel better soon!

I have two chilren and was pretty sick in the beginning with both of them. The second one was a TAD more bearable but I did find those "aqua bands" to be helpful during the day ...enough for me to be able to work at least. Not sure if you have heard of them but they are for motion sickness so I guess that's where you can find them in the drug store....they are wrist bands with little balls that press on a point in your wrist that helps to alleviate the nausea. Your wrists will get get sore by the end of the day but I know that you would probably trade the sore wrists for that "yuckky" feeling.....give it a try!

Hi C.
I'm sorry that you are feeling so bad. I am not quite over the hump, so I certainly empathize. I am pregnant with twins and the nausea is double for me than it was last time. I was sick 24 hours a day. First thing in the morning, at 3 in the after noon, at 2 in the morning. It was horrible. I had the same problem that I wasn't hungry but knew I needed to eat. A couple things that helped curb the feeling was to wear sea-bands. You can get them at any drug store. They are just wristbands that have a plastic ball on the inside that you place on a pressure point and work wonders. They are specifically made for naesea of any sort; sea sickness, morning sickness, cheomotheropy etc. Perfectly safe for the baby. I also went to my local internation market and bought pickled ginger. Everytime I had a wave of nausea I would pop some in my mouth and suck on it and it would level me out.
I hope one of these things can help you!

I was sick every day when I was pregnant and I can relate. Some things that I did that helped was keeping ginger snaps and saltines next to my bed. I would munch on a few of either whenever I woke up in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning. Also a cup of ginger tea helped first thing in the morning. I also ate my bigger meal at lunch and then just ate yogurt, toast, or oatmeal for dinner. I hope that something here can help you and hopefully it will pass soon. Good luck
