I'm open to all suggestions! I would like a certified in home place because the daycares are just so much. We have always used Childtime off of Sublett but they are charging $220 per week! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

What can I do next?

I live in S. Arlington as well and my daughter attends a home daycare on Matlock and Debbie Lane. She has been with this lady a year and I love her and so does my daughter. If you want her info let me know...

What's wrong with Craigslist? I found an incredible childcare provider on Craigslist and she has been caring for my two girls for nearly five years now. We love her to death! Maybe I got lucky, but if it weren't for craigslist, I wouldn't have found her!

Pull up the state web site for daycares. They have a place to filter for home daycares. They will state whether they are certified or registered. Then you can start calling and checking them out. I don't have anyone to recommend. It's been too long since my kids were in daycare ! But I will say - for most centers - $220 per week is pretty standard. Not sure about home care.

Another option is if your employer offers an Employee Assistance Program to contact them. Most people think the EAP is only for "problems" but the purpose is to help you find resources to make your life easier. Similar to what Christy J suggested, you call them and tell them what you're looking for and they will provide you with a listing of options as well as questions to ask and things to consider when looking for childcare. Good luck to you.

In my humble opionion the state licensing site is a complete waste of time. there is so much information out there it is difficult to comb through.
I probably sound like a broken record, but give our area's child care resource and referral service a call/email.
For $10 you tell them what kind of care you want, age of your child, budget, location, if you want curriculum, etc. and they give you a list fo 5-7 providers that meet your criteria AND they are registered/licensed with the sate. (I say registered, because in-home don't have to be "licensed" they have a different classification they can choose from, but still meet all the safety standards, etc). Here is a link. Oh - the referral specialist is not affilated with any program. They work for you and are objective. BUT they will give you information (if you ask) on how to identify a QUALITY in home provider. Checklists, etc. These are free even if you don't want to use the service:)
Best of luck!
