Please Help with a Pediatrician Recommendation

Hello everyone,

I am about to be a first time mom, and I am hunting for a pediatrician. I live in Chesterfield, and am currently trying to decide between Dr. Laquita Graham with St. Luke's or Dr. Adam Eaton with Blue Fish. Do any STL moms have experience with either doctor? Any words of wisdom are appreciated!

What can I do next?

Hi, I have had experience with Dr. Graham because she is part of St. Louis Pediatric Associates, where I take my children. She visited me in the hospital after my 2nd was born, and we've seen her in the office once (the doctors there all cover for each other if one is off). I was very impressed both times. Before I had my first, I had three separate recommendations telling me that anyone st St. Louis Pediatric Associates is excellent. We have seen several doctors in the practice at different times, and have found them all to be excellent doctors.

Two things for you to consider (now that I've been through this twice!): If you intend to stay with the doctor for a long time, you may want to consider the sex of your baby. As they get older, they may be more comfortable with a doctor of the same sex.

Also, St. Louis Pediatric Associates is a huge practice and does not have a separate sick waiting room, so if that is of concern to you, you may want to consider the other practice (of which I know nothing). Honestly, my girls have never caught something at the office -- they get exposed enough in public and at school! The office also encourages any patient who might have something contagious to wait outside the main waiting area in the hall, where they have a bench and an intercom. Those patients are brought in through a separate door, if necessary. I've only used it once myself, when I thought my daughter might have chicken pox, but it is nice to know it's there if necessary.

I've probably given you more questions now, but have found these are important points in making a decision. I hope this info. helps, and congratulations on your first! I hope all goes well for your delivery and adjusting to a little one in your house! : )

We see Dr Mayer in Dr Graham's office (we love her). Dr Graham did our rounds in the NICU a few days when I had my 2nd borns (twins) last year. I absolutely loved her. I think I saw her more than our doc! I was super stressed and worried about my kiddos and she was so compassionate and really listened to my concerns/had my back when we dealt with the hospital doctors. I've seen another doc in her office as well and he was awesome as well. St Lukes is so easy to get in and out of. Office staff is nice too.

We see Dr. After at Blue Fish but I believe have seen all the doctors at one time or another. To be honest, I get the two male drs. confused, but frankly I like all of the drs. pretty well and I believe Eaton was my favorite of the two. My daughter certainly liked him, she talked about him for quite some time.

Also I understand the previous poster's suggestion about considering the gender of your child, but I now have a boy and a girl. Unless I'm going to have different pediatrician's for each...in the end you can't control it.

My kids' pediatrician is Dr Mayer, however for one reason or another I have seen other doctors in this practice (St Louis Pediatric Associates-St Luke's Hospital). Dr L. Graham is very good and any other doctor in this office is wonderful.
