Maybe this has already been explored, so sorry if this is a repeat, but maybe he has swallowing issues? I know a couple of friends whose kids went through feeding therapy. They saw a speech therapist for this. Perhaps this is something worth exploring? It sounds like you've been working with your ped, so hopefully he or she could offer some insight?

Good luck. I can see how this would worry a mom to pieces. I hope he starts eating soon.

My son wouldn't eat when he had a sore throat (strep) but he couldn't communicate that with me because he was a baby. Also if a baby has stomach pain he won't eat esp if eating is assoc. with pain. That would be tough to fix if it continues. Seems to be way too young for it to be a psychological issue at this point. I am sorry for you and I am sure your mounting anxiety. Did the pediatrician recommend trying simethicone or a premeal medicine? Just curious..Does the baby have bowel movements every day? Do they appear "normal"? Does he wet enough times a day? Does his eyes look sunken and his skin loose? Things to pay attention to and let the MD know

My 26 year old daughter struggles with eating each day...but sounds like we have a different issue than yours. Your son sounds like he may have a medical issue and I'm glad to hear that his doctor is exploring that.

Does he drink milk? Is he drinking the Pediasure as prescribed? We had to resort to putting choc. syrup in my daughter's milk/pediasure per doctor's orders. We also mix the pediasure with the milk so that it isn't so thick.

I hope you find an answer soon! I know the fear and frustration you have.

I will also keep checking back in to your post to see if you get any other suggestions or an update. :) My thoughts and prayers are with you and your little guy.

what does your Dr. say? Does your pediatrician know how concerned you are? They should have some suggestions for you; some tips on how to manage what you are going through, which certainly sounds like a difficult and challenging time. If your son is being seen at a children's hospital for these tests, there should be some nurses or social workers there that you can speak with about how to manage your son and his issues, even though you don't have any answers at this time about what is causing his difficulties.

It sounds scary - please keep calling his Dr. and talking to them - they should be able to offer ;you some help and support - and if they can't, perhaps they can suggest someplace for you to get your questioins answered.

Good luck!

Have you had any allergy testing?? Maybe be has a food allery and when he eats he just dosen feel well. My son wasnt thriving at 4months old alought my son was eating it was only breast milk. Once we found out what he was allergic to he started gaining weight and doing real well. Another sign was dark circles under his eyes as well his skin was very blotchy. Hope you find a soulution quickly!

I hope next week's test gives you some type of answer. Have you talked to your dr. about a feeding tube until an answer can be found? I know that sounds drastic, but if your son isn't eating he isn't getting the nutrients that he needs and then still won't grow.

Just a thought.
