today I left my daughter with my sister because I did not want to take her out because she has been sick. Well, the case is that my sister bought her a can of concentrated similac formula. She did not realize that it was concentrated because I had bought her a can of liquid formula but it was not concentrated and that is all she remembered and she remembered to make sure it was the correct one. Unfortunately is was the correct formula but she didnot give it to her right she gave her lke three ounces of concentreated formula. I do not know what to do . Does anyone know by how much does it have to be diluted and what side effects and how can it harm her.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, I took her to the doctor and she said that everything was fine that I might see her runny or constipated and that besides it was not much of a big dose. So Thanks a lot I got scared and I appreciate it a lot. I know this just the beginning of a big journey of being a Mother.

I actually think she is most likely to get constipated or dehydrated if anything. However, I think she will be fine if it was only the once. I'd just watch her closely or call the ped. On second thought the formula company actually has nutritionists on staff who are always available and super helpful. Call the customer service number on the can.

Call her doctor-- I'm sure this has happened to other babies and the doctor will know just what symptoms to look for. As previously noted, please try to stay calm (take 3 deep breaths when you feel the anxiety swelling up inside you). Babies really can sense our emotions, so stay calm for her sake. I'm praying for you both.

Always, always-Call your doctor if you are really concerned, but I am sure she will be fine, maybe a little runny. Kind of like when we have too many vegetables or juice that was not diluted. Follow her lead. Watch how she is. If she is crying uncontrollably and it is certain it is not from your nervousness (they really can sense it-I figured that out a long time ago, it's amazing). Evidently it didn't bother her to drink it or she would have turned it down. Oh you poor thing, I am sure everything will be fine.

If your baby did not get sick with vomiting or diarrhea, I am sure she will be fine. Just make sure she is fed properly for the rest of her feedings..

The only harm would be if she seems dehydrated. You can usually tell by the color of her urine.Dry diaper or dark yellow would mean she needs more fluids. Can't hurt to give her water (or diluted formula).
PS the side of the can should give dilution instructions. 3 oz does not sound like much.

Your baby will be ok.. my husband did that to our son also when I was sick and had to go to the doctor ..He didn't read and got the wrong one, ended up giving as a liquid one . Our son was fine, just only had constipation for couple days
You may see your daugter has constipation. Just give some water just like others suggested or you can give some aple juice . I don't know how old your daugter, but our son was about 2 months so we had to dilute aple juice with water b/c don't want the stomach gets upset (acid).

Call your pediatrician and ask them, just to be on the safe side. I have no idea what the dangers there could be, if any. But for something like that I would always call my doctors' advice/nurse line.

You can call Similac. The telephone numbers for companies are often posted on the product.

Always call your doctor if you have questions about the health of your kid.
I did have a friend of the family tell me that when his son (older kid now) was first born he was so sleep deprived that he fed him undiluted formula and then wondered why the kid didn't wake up hungry at the normal time. Apparently the poor little guy was kinda bloated and slept through a feeding.

No worries, your daughter will be fine. I did the same thing when my daughter was born not realizing that it was a concentrated formula. The Dr. said she'd be fine- no side affects. It was just a live and learn situation.

I don't think that it will harm her in any way. The baby just may not want to drink much of that milk because of the change or strong flavor.
Imagine how many and many persons have done that same mistake, if that product was sooooo delicate to give to the babies it would not be out in the market by now.

Giving the baby the normal dose now and maybe a little bit of water will get her regular if there was any change at all in her elimination process.

The dose and how to serve are indicated in the product label.

Do not worry, at least not for this incident, there will be so, so many and different ones while your baby grows!

The directions for dilution are on the can. I wouldn't think it would hurt her, but you might "double-dilute" the next bottle so she gets enough fluid. If you are worried, call your pediatrician's office and see what they say! Good luck!

I wouldn't worry but you could call your pedi's nurse and ask. Next time why not get all the supplies the baby needs and give them to your sister with instructions if she isn't familar with caring for a baby.

Good luck!

Some one on here said call 911? We make raising kids too hard on ourselves. She will be fine. She could be constipated or runny just depends on how it affects her. This was not a poisoning she fed her too much formula! Seriously, lets put it in the proper prospective. If you are concerned, call the doctor but most of all relax!
