I know this may sound weird, but my son when he hears music, or even when he hears a song or music on commercials he just stops what he is doing and he spins around and around in circles with his head down, looking at the floor. He is going to be 2 in january. Me and my other 2 children try and show him how to dance the right way but, he still keeps spinning.
I have never seen or heard of anything like this. Anyone have any ideas?

What can I do next?

my daughter did something similar, she is almost three now and she now adds a butt shake to the circle. I think it is comletely hysterical. Get it on tape for fun family video time ( don't make fun and squash his creativity.) Let them dance and celebrate music in their own way. It is so fun it can make us do the craziest things! Encourage him to dance and have fun. there is nothing wrong with circles- think about break dancing- what mom first said my son spins around on his back when he hears music... all in good fun and spirits!

my son does this but he has PDD(autistic). As long as your child isnt showing other signs then you should just let him do his dance the way he wants but occasionally make him spin the other way so he doesnt get too dizzy :)

Try getting hin to watch the wiggles. They are great for kids to mimic after. Other than that...don't worry. Is there really any right way to dance? As long as he is having fun and not hurting himself I wouldn't get too upset over it. Good luck!

Completely normal!! I wouldn't worry about it at all! Let him dance the way he wants and he'll eventually do it the "right" way! My daughter is 13 months and dances that way too!!

I don't think this should be a big deal. i think you should just make sure that there is nothing around that may hurt him if he falls.

I agree with the other comment--he is at that age when they love to get dizzy! I would think that this is probably just his way of dancing for now. I would keep trying to show him other ways of moving and dancing to the music.

Mine's the same age and dances that way sometimes, though she'll do other dances too. I think they're fascinated with the way being dizzy feels. Just make sure there's nothing dangerous nearby for him to fall on, and let him explore. Do you watch any TV shows or movies that show people dancing, especially kids? Mine mimics dancing she sees on TV.
