He is acting his age. He is testing his boundaries and limits...this is what 2 year olds do...not so much with nail polish - but in development - see what they can and cannot get away with.

If you think he's "out of control" it means that you have expectations that are not being met. HE IS TWO YEARS OLD and experimenting with his new found freedom - walking - running - opening cabinets, drawers, etc. put locks on the cabinets or baby gates up that he can't get up and over or through.

As to getting the polish out?

I would try nail polish remover. try a SMALL portion FIRST..then go bigger.

here's what others said in the past..

Have you ever heard the expression-"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"? How in the world, is a 2 year old getting his hands on a bottle of nail polish?
Things like this must be out of his sight and reach. Children are so naturally curious as to how everything works, tastes, functions, feels, smells, etc-that they cannot help themselves and they cannot distinguish what will hurt the furniture and God forbid, themselves.

Any 2 yr old with access to nail polish would do the same thing. It doesn't sound out of control to me so please don't punish your child. Keep things like this that a little one would love out of reach.

As far as the couch, call a carpet/furniture cleaning company for their suggestions.

He is not "out of control." Do not have that attitude with him, or he is going to have problems.

Don't let a baby have access to nail polish. Like Michelle said, call a carpet cleaning company.

Love your baby.

That's almost as good as Sharpie marker on the walls (try hair spray to get it out).
They all manage to get into something that should have been kept out of their reach and then we have to figure out how to un-do or repair the damage.
They are just exploring - it's what toddlers do!
One time we found a completely un rolled roll of toilet paper behind our son's crib.
(I could just picture him wondering 'just how long IS this thing anyway?'.)
He sort of KNEW he wasn't suppose to play with it (he did hide it) but at least he didn't try flushing it all down the toilet.
Another time it was a poured out entire bottle of baby oil on the floor behind the crib - wooden floor - that portion of floor was very shiny for a very long time after getting all the oil up.
Another time he pushed his indoor climbing toy over to the door to the garage so he could figure out how the chain lock worked (he didn't know we were watching him from up the stairs - we took pictures) - the chain he figured out - but his toy was in front of the door and he could not open it.
Yeah - we knew we had no attention deficit disorder here - when he was concentrating on a problem (even if it was mischief) - he was totally absorbed with figuring it out.
You've got to watch them like a hawk!
When it's quiet for more than 5 min (and they are not napping) - you have just got to see what they are up to.

Try reading this site. It's never happened to me, so I don't have experience with this.

C., write another question to start a different thread, asking about your son's behavior. Detail what all he does and how you handle it. The more info you give, the better advice we can give.

Good luck getting the nail polish out!

Keep anything & everything that he can get into, that's dangerous or will create a big mess or problems, up & away from 2 year old height.

He's not "out of control". You just need to keep a better eye on him, and child proof your house.
