Ok.. I need any suggestions... It has been about 2 weeks since I got the first bite. If I am at home I get bit by something but have NEVER seen any bug. Some bites are as big as pen point but then some are as big as a quarter and itch so bad that now my bites are turning into bruises from itching so bad. I have washed my sheets and blankets in bleach and nothing is helping. My husband and I share a bed and I have 14 bites all on my legs and feet and one on my wrist but my husband has none. Our two boys have no bites but our daughter has 3. What could be biting me. I could be gone all day and come home and get bit while doing dishes and I have pants on. Today alone I got 3 bites. Again I have NEVER seen ANYTHING.. Thanks for any suggestions on what it might be or what I can do. I have looked online and it's not Bed bugs or flea's. The bites are different. I see nothing, I JUST got bit again and lookes all over and nothing is there. If it is bed bugs or fleas I would think my husband would have atleast one bite.Oh and no I have no animals.. So frustrating..

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

First I want to thank everyone for the great ideas. My daughter the other night got bit and turned on the light and there was a spider on her. I know it's not bed bugs and I can't get rid of my mattress I just got it about 6 months ago and paid $3000 for it. BUT last night I did change my sheets one more time and it was the first night I didn't get bit. I think it is baby spiders. Yesterday I got bit on my leg while doing dishes. So I hope this is the end of this. Friday I will be getting bug spray.Oh and these I don't think are hives, the bite has a bite(hole) in the center and after itching they do bleed and scab.I know they are not chicken pox, these are def. bites Oh and no mosquitos around the house. It is strange because on both of my legs and feet all the bites are on the right side, no bites on the left side of my legs. I don't get it.. Thank you again for all the great advise.

There are a lot of Mosquitos in the Valley right now... And according to a local news report, more than normal because there is no Tempe Town Lake (the fish would have normally eaten the larvae of the Mosquitos)
My 2YO son and I have been getting a lot of bites... Hubby and daughters- nothing... But I have seen a lot of those itty-bitty Mosquitos around.

I think its bed bugs, I really do. When I was living with my parents for a short time I was covered in bites, some small, some looking terrible and huge...and I was the ONLY person getting bitten. They are somewhat picky. I got rid of my mattress and cleaned the room I was staying in top to bottom, and luckily enough, they were gone after that. Good luck...

It may well not be bites at all... but an allergic reaction to something else.

When I break out in hives they can range from teensy things to silver dollar pancake size welts, but they most often look like mosquito bites (on me). The only thing that helps is Benedryl until I figure out what I'm allergic to. Sadly, I also break out in hives when I get cold and wet. Yay, all the fun of being miserble AND itching. Fun fun. Many people break out in hives in relation to stress of one form or another, and ditto an allergic reaction to a food or substance.

I can't guess what it is, but if it is moquitoes, I have a relief suggestion. My daughter and I are always the ones who get bitten. Certain people have the kind of blood mosquitoes like, so when we get bites I use Echinacea. You can get it at a health food store, we got our at Sprouts. It comes in a bottle with a built in dropper. We have tried every remedy to alleviate the itch in bites and this is what works for us. I put a couple of drops on a cotton ball and dab onto the bite. It relieves the itching and heals it faster. If you have the time, putting ice on the bite helps reduce the swelling and stops the itch for a little while. Mosquitoes are all over because of the rains and there small pools of water all over that take a while to dry up.

There is a surge of ants and mosquitos all over the valley right now. When the temperature drops slightly, they come out and are hungry. If the bites are just red bumps - and don't turn into bleeding type scabs until after you have itched them for a while, I'd bet it is ants or mosquitos.

Good luck!

I don't think I'd be so quick to rule out fleas or bed bugs just because of the appearance of the bites. They can look quite different on different people, different photos, etc.

And you don't have to be "unclean" to have either.

Fleas can be tough to spot if they are in your carpeting. I visited a friend once, and I was getting eaten alive, especially on my feet, ankles, and bottoms of my legs, and I never saw anything. Finally, after some intense watching and looking deep into the carpet, I saw the little buggers. She was infested. And had no pets. It can happen.

Also, I think I'd do a good search for bed bugs, too, before ruling them out. As others have noted, they have made quite a comeback recently. Especially if you or any family member has stayed somewhere other than your home within the last 6 months or so, namely a hotel, but even a friend or family members house. Bed bugs are extremely easy to transport, and very difficult to find because they are nocturnal and they hide well. Inspect the edging of your mattresses, around your bedframe and rails, around any curtains in bedrooms, under the mattress, between the boxspring and mattress, etc. and look for little like blood spots or fecal matter. If you see any of these telltale signs, you might be infested. Check your daughters too.

Anyhow, good luck finding your culprit. I'm sure this is quite an annoying problem.

Are you sure that they are bites and not hives? Maybe it is an allergic reaction to something? A new detergent or soap?

I get bit all the time along with my daughter but my husband NEVER gets bit. Some bugs are attracted to certain scents and and you and you probably passed the same scent on to your daughter. My husband use to laugh because he just couldn't believe how much I would get bit by stuff and he wouldn't ever get a bite. I never saw my stuff too and I just kept washing the sheets over and over. Well, one day we were watching tv in bed and I looked above our bed, there were two tiny, tiny like the size of an ant but they were tiny spiders coming down from the light in the middle of the ceiling above our bed. The bites were horrible and one got so bad and turned into a huge hard lum and I had to get it injected with a steroid. Anways, that explained why I didn't find anything in the bed. However, I didn't realize how dirty the top of that light fixture was since I never go up there to clean it, I just dust the bottom. EEEKKK, hope that helps.

Do you have a dog and/or outdoor cat?
You might have fleas.
Try using a topical anesthetic to relieve the itching.
Consider taking an antihistamine, also to relieve itching.
Good luck!

Are you sure it's a bite? I get hives bad in the spring and fall if I stand to close to a tree or something. Mine look bug bit-ish and can range different sizes. Try some benadryl and see if that helps at all.

Just a thought, are you sure they aren't Chicken Pox? Even if you have been vaccinated for this, you can still get it. 3 of my children still got chicken pox after being vaccinated years previously. No fevers accompanied them either.

Something sure does think you're tasty! Since it's making you so uncomfortable, why not call your doctor's office and ask what's biting this time of year? Maybe you won't even have to go in to see the doctor, but even if you do it'll be worth it to get some relief.

Do you and your daughter use any fragrant product that the male member of your household do not use. It's my understanding that bugs are attracted by fragrance.

I suggest you try using Skin So Soft from Avon. It's said to be a natural insect repellent.

Bedbugs have been all over the news lately. I'm terrified. They apparently hide under the bed and behind bedboards and things. You can't always find them on the mattress, but look again. They are definitely large enough to be visible.

I hope it's not bedbugs.
